HEY FISH!
...dude...how's the KLX?...jato, his brother, and I went on a little gnarly fire-road excursion up the side of an 8600ft mountain...our KLRsixfitties did well...like a tractor going up and down slopes, hills, and moguls...I was a little apprehensive about not having a skid plate cuz some of the basket ball-sized rocks and protruding imbeddeded rocks looked like junkyard dogs ready to do damage...
...and as I was dodging these rottweiler rocks, I thought: "this is good, but the KLX400 would be better"...HOWEVER, the long pavement ride to the mountain would've been miserable on the svelt KLX...the KLR was a twofer...able to ride to the mountain in comfort and able to ride the mountain with relative ease...not bombing up and down ala MX-style mind you, but just just chugging along in 1st or 2nd gear...
...except jato...he's fuckin' fearless..I saw him bomb up this mini-Widowmaker hill as if he was on a smaller bike, catching some air in the process...I dunno if my jaw dropped or I shit my pants first watching this dude...of course, jato make any bike except a 'Wing or a Rune look small  ...
...there were only a few flat and relative smooth 4th gear surfaces, most of it was slow speed technical stuff with exciting drop-offs (YIKES!) to the side...the soft, stock Kawasaki fish-oil in the forks and the stock settings were just right (I think)...soaked it up and no jarring compression or rebound to spook you...jato has pics on another site...I'll see if he can send it here...
...so, how IS that KLX?...damn, I'm buyin' and puttin' on more goodies on my KLR than I did my 12R...this bike rails on the pavement even with scaredshitless me on board! ..the upgraded brakes and the forkbrace are a VERY noticable improvement...

...just got back from a quick run up in the hills near me...a gravel/dirt/busted-up pavement easement road that runs through some very large ranch property...took some pics of this mysterious lookin' rock-constructed house (to follow)...heard a few rattlers nearby...spooky...saw a very steep hill and decided not to climb it since I was by myself...don't quite have that 'sideways power slide' out of trouble thing down yet...need skid plate...it was hot...no, it was VERY HOT out there...had a camelback-type bag with me...need to ride this Friday morning...need more hueveos ...
...oh yeah, almost got taken out by a fast moving loaded stake truck on the way home through the smooth pavement sweepers...the driver crossed over the double yellow cuz' he was going too damn fast for the curves...he was half way over to my lane, 90~100mph closing speed and head on...I saw him coming and I had already decided that I was going to off-roading into the swale/ditrch on the my side of the road and hoped it wasn't going to hurt much..he gathered it up and over-corrected, his back end swing out even further as we passed each other...looking at my rear view mirror, I could see that the asshole over corrected again, shifted his load...where are the cops when you need one?????

The KLX/DRZ is excellent.... I wont know entirely until this weekend as I get the knobbies mounted tomorrow and the steel braided lines are in on Friday...
all I can say is that it is light and fast!

I need a web host that works. These free sites I keep trying won't let me post my pics on the BBs. It worked for about 5 minutes then they shut me down and turned off my pictures.

jato, u just had to remove the ".orig.jpg" off the end of the urls. they'r actualyl still temporarily unavailable after i did so; probably just doing some maintenance.
