got to try out the 2003 hondas!

never rode a dirtbike before in my life, so when a buddy invited me to come along to a demo day put on by honda (he was invited cause he bought a bike fomr them this summer), i jumped at the chance. honda had all their dirt bikes at an indoor track, complete with whoops, a tabletop, doubles & a step up; a proper motocross track, if not quite pro competition size. well, the bad part is i only got like 10 minutes on a xr200 & xr250 on the flat slow course next door, but just before we left, i took their 300cc quad out on th ebig track. now i didnt expect they would let these go out on the track cause they jsut wouldnt be able to handle it, but i was very wrong! the thing rocked! small, light, tons of suspension, and flys beautifully! after 2 laps i was quite comfortable jumpin the thing severl feet. very soft landing. wish i had got a chance to take the xr250 on the big track, but i jsut woulda made a foll of myself anyway. besides, 5 laps (bout 5 minutes) on the quad left my legs screaming as it is :o

man, i wanna dirtbike.

I've got the perfect road for you FrEEk. It's outside Peachland and dead ends, unless you're on a dirt bike. Then it takes you on a trail that is way above Hwy 97 and the lake, then it leads thru some tight single track that's used for trials riding, into an open area that is all waist high grassland with nice rollling bumps. It goes on to branch off into just about any kind of surface you care to name.

I forgot to mention the small dirt road up there. Mostly smoot pea gravel that twists and turns it's way up the side of a big hill. On the KLR250 I was able to get it sideways a la dirt track style around all the corners.
Felt like the back end was hanging out 3 feet or more, in reality it was probably a foot at the most.

It did however make me feel like Chris Carr for a few minutes!

sounds like an awesone road bill. nothing like riding a road thru breataking scenery. must as california is a beautiful place to ride, i think they can't compare with the scenery we get here. hoping to take a week (or 4 days at the least) and do a big ride thru bc this summer. i'v done a couple BC road trips in the car in past years, & loved every minute of it. it's a fantastic province for traveling.
