I have loved Harleys since I was a kid, just never got around to buying one yet. If I ever did decide to slow down from an inline four and buy a V-Twin it would prolly be just like this one here. ____________

quote:yes harleys turn better than sportbikes (at 5 MPH and under)
sportbikes have no turning radius and weren't designed for slow speeds
...and Harleys were NOT designed for the high speeds sportbikes are capable of...and most motorcycle riders rarely ride waaaaaaay over the posted speed limit....and most motorcycle riders like to just slow-to-medium speed cruise...
...some motorcyclist just want to be seen on a sportbike thinking they're oh so waaaay fuckin' too cool under the annonymity of a full-face helmet....as if
...and some riders want to be a part of that badboy-image lifestyle and would blow their shit right past their assless chaps if real OMGs approached them and wanted to make their bike and/or woman their "property"
...and some of us just want to buy and ride what we like, don't give a shit what others think or like, and just mind our own business because we just like bikes ____________ “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men

Worm we are just concerned for your safety. Surviving all those years as a cop just to get killed because a motorcycle couldn't make it around a turn at the legal speed limit. ____________

A couple years ago I was riding my 1000RR home from Bikeweek, 165 miles on 95 south for me. Traffic was averaging about 90, beautiful mid day sunday afternoon, light traffic. I was cruising about 100 just staying ahead. I noticed a single headlight way behind me passing cars and gaining on me little by little. OH BOY I thought, someone to ride with.
As he got close I heard a different sound than expected, he pulls up next to me in full leathers one piece racing suit, boots, gloves AND a full helmet. He was on a Sportster, dropped it down a gear and hauled ass away from me (in his mind). I left it in 6th gear and rolled a little throttle to stay even with him until around 130 or so then let off and watched him haul ass off into the sunset knowing he would probably tell everyone how he whooped up on one of them "Rice Rockets".
I couldn't take that away from him, everyone needs something to believe in. lol

Had it been any other bike mine would have too but a Sportster?... I was shocked to see it run me down at 100 mph as long as I saw it behind me. I had to see how fast it would go, then when we got up around 130 I got concerned for my safety and didn't want to have to start dodging motorparts from it. I let it go, had no idea a Sportster could go that fast.

Lol! Yes that is a pretty amazing feat for a Hardley Davidsmess sportster.
I had a similar experience once with a custom chopper that buzzed me on the freeway once while I was doing.110- 115. I was amazed he wasn't in a death wobble by then so I just rolled with him to see when he topped out. 140mph! 140 is whenhe topped out and is when I buzzed him like he was standing still!

I got into it with a guy on a harley heading East on I-80 of all places. I was on the C14 and he went for it. He got it up to 125ish (it was a full dresser) so I just paced him and tucked down behind the shield to let him think that was all I had. Then I sat up downshifted 2 gears and ran away. When I slowed he caught up and he was all smiles and thumbs up.

I had a dual sport for a 2nd bike a few years ago, XR650l, that was a blast racing Harleys and choppers with around town light to light. Once in a while I DID come upon one that could give me a decent race believe it or not. lol

The saddest part is, that harleys are still big business. And many a small shop, accessory house, and big retailer depend on harley to continue making the bikes they make today. Big changes are not good for them. And to be honest the economy needs harley, motorcycling needs harley. Sad but true.

Thanks to Harley Davidson since 1970 the United States of America isn't good enough to compete in motorcycle racing, soon as their thirty year's of competition ended they quit racing and dedicated all their efforts to the "Biker Bad Boy Image"..........
They been trying to build a Honda for well over 100 years now and still ain't got it right.
