I was on vacation for a couple of weeks...

I double checked the Dec. Cycle World and 174.3 HP is the corrected number they got on their dyno.

A separate dyno test posted on the Star Vmax forum came within 1 or 2 HP of 174.

The problem here is I dynoed my own car on two different dynos and came up with a corrected difference of about 20%. MPH in the 1/4 mile is a much more accurate method of determining true HP. Cycle World didn't list the test weight so that would only be a guess.

wait till spring and all the bike stores doing there dyno shootouts/BBQ's and I'll find out first hand how they compare against my zx14. Its only a number, but when you're talking engines those numbers are all you got to go by.

Why does anyone care what it beats or does not beat?
I don't think YAMAHA said it was the fastest/most powerful bike.

If it works a little better than most cruisers then it did what it was made to do.

It's not a fucking cruiser either though. It was a stretch trying to call the original vmax a cruiser. It was really a UJM on roids. The new max is in the same class with some heavy hitters. MV Brutale, Aprilia Tuono, Triumph Speed triple, Suzuki B-king, and now the Ducati Street fighter. Anything that gets 20mpg and has a tiny tank isn't meant to be a cruiser lol. V-rod, m109r, rocket3, Vulcan 2000, Raider... those are cruisers.

Really what it boils down to is that the only class that the new VMAX really falls into is VMAX. Compare it to the old ones or itself... but that's about it. I'll take on all challengers who want to compare it to my bike though .

With 236hp you might actually get the rocket 3 to look at mid-low 10's. Isn't it amazing to see a bike with so much less hp walk all over those other two? If it makes you feel better, my buddies 182hp k8 busa runs 6.0's with a da of 4500... bazzaz zafm is a beautiful thing! All you have to do is put it in learn mode for a couple of passes, tell it your target afr and hit correct. Pow... instant 3 tenths of a second better over his track map.

IMFASTTOO you post WE at CARPENTER RACING , so i take it you work for Carpenter ? Does Bob know you post here at Bikeland ? I'm betting if Bob saw what your are posting here he would tell you to stop..Your posts make Carpenters look bad .. Your posts are very child like , i'm thinking you are about 16 or 17 years old and if you work for Bob you mostlikely clean floors and bathrooms ..I also believe you are changing the HP numbers to make the Vmax look better than it really is .... We all know the new Vmax HP at the crank is 197 ( Yamahas Numbers) and we know the drive shaft robs more HP than a chain drive , so no way it it going to make 184 HP at the tire without pipe and tunning ... Dyno numbers from other shops for the 09 Vmax are closer to 171 HP at the rear wheel ... 171 hp numbers are more in line than this made up 184 HP numbers you are trying to sell us ..

I will buy the 162 hp number for the 09 zx14 and then add in ram air and you get close to 172 HP.. Either way 162 for the zx14 Vs 171 HP for the Vmax the Vmax still is not going to beat up a zx14 with the Vmax weighing in at 701 pounds.. Try all you want you can't over come the weight and the fact the Vmax is as aerodynamic as a brick..

Is the Vmax a cool bike ? Yes it is and if i had some extra cash (18k plus) i would like to have one myself ..

Jesus IMFASTTOO, you really gotta pull that Used Car Salesman out of your ass. Your blatant attempt to advertise for your shop as you argue tells all of us all we need to know about you.

Do yourself a favor and stop trying to think two steps ahead of yourself while you are typing. You suck at it, and it shows in your text.

FYI most of us here, including myself, could care less if the Vmax makes more power on a dyno. Good for it, and good for Yamaha. Especially since that would force Suzuki and Kawi to give the Busa and 14 a R E A L upgrade so that the liter bikes will not be matching them anymore. Hopefully they will knock off 50 or 60 pounds while they are at it...

OK i get it , you are here just to spread spam ... We don't like spam ...

We all know Carpenter builds great motors and makes great HP .We would love to have him here to give us the latest greatest go fast parts for the zx14 .. Tell Bob that he should become a sponsor here at Bikeland that way he would not have to send a very bad saleman ( you ) here to spam us ..To put it nicely your posts just plain SUCK...

Yeah like Smokin' said alot more politely.................you're fulla shit
Maybe somebody oughta call Carpenters up and let them know how you "claim" to be representing him on Bikeland? I'm sure he'd like the way his "claimed" employee is making him look with all your easily seen through BS. Whats the shops number again? And which employee are you? And wheres the proof of these "numbers" Bob wanted you to post for the shop? I'm sure a well known shop like his would like to "prove" what you're saying, so folks know what the shops really all about right?
Well lookey here....I seem to have found the number for Carpenter Racing myself , its 856-753-1555 if anybodies interested What was your name again Imfullashit2?
Heres the website link http://www.carpenterracing.com/index.htm its odd I don't see a single dyno sheet anywhere on the site?.......hmmm. You'd think if he had a peon like you throwing numbers around a forum he'd have something posted on the site?? LOL
I think I'll call them monday. What was your name again??

Got some pics today at the International Motorcycle Show. This is my first time seeing the bikes in person. Very nice, and not as huge in person as it looks in the pictures.

I took some shots of some stock parts, and pics from the custom bike:

I noticed that the custom bike had a 240 tire on it. It also appeared to be offset to one side of the bike about 1/2". The mufflers on that bike were modified nicely, and the control were very nice as well.

I have a new MAX in the shop and it is great bike, rolling burnouts will keep you
laughing all day.But trying to compare the new MAX to sportbike is silly.
I own several sportbikes and love them, the MAX is not a sportbike.
It is sold as a STAR power cruiser check the website. If you look at the bike
for 10 seconds you will see racing was not the goal. The bike is 700 lbs wet and
has shaft drive, and as smokin says aerodynamics of locomotive.
Guys if you want to race, buy a race bike!!
