Police Interceptor busa
Suzuki Hayabusa Police Interceptor
May 25th, 2006 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"

If you're passing through Oklahoma and you think you can just speed through the state without any chance of getting run down from behind, think again. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has a little surprise for you, a Suzuki Hayabusa Police Interceptor, all nice and shiny and black and radar equipped. The OHP is set to get special training at the California Superbike School. Better slow 'er down boys.

Question is are they going to equip it with the most important part?
The skilled rider. I don't have the part number for this piece of equiptment but they usually are the ones running from instead of for.

...you'd be surprised how skilled motorcops are and what they can do to a heavy equipment-ladened "motor" (typical word used to designate a police motorcycle)...there are those who consider learned skills of a motor-officer in the top 1%~3% of all riders...put them on a competent sportbike and it gets even better ....btw, I'm not one of them.........yet

I agree... Many motor cops are very good, only hindered by the 70's era Kawi's they ride.
I've had the experiance to race (on the track) with a few and they were VERY good.
My times (back in 87) at Road America were in the mid to low 2:30's on a 87 GSXR 1100. My cop buddys were only a second or so slower on the same bike (endurance team). Back then that was a pretty respectable time. Now they run 2:11in Superbike and 2:15 with a 600 !!
I aiways joked with him that I would outrun a cop every weekend :d

....ya' see, TM...I have a plan...if I get a motor slot with my Department, then I can justify the cost of a few high-quality track days or schools with the spousal-unit...it'll fall under the "education and safety" funds as it relates to my job...and I can tell her that its hard work and not all that much fun and folks actually sweat in school because of all the hard work we have to do while training ...I might even get to justify the purchase of a "throw down" track tool (ie.a properly suspended SV650 comes to mind) so that I don't scratch up the shiny black and white R1200RTPs that we ride or any of my civilian street licensed bikes...whaddaya think?....man, it was so much easier to get my motofix when I was single and irresponsible with my funds

The cool Police bikes are the old Harleys you see in some cities like Boston and New York. They aren't much for top speed but they are great for crowd control and such. One time in Boston I got to see 4 Boston PD on Harleys herd (like cattle) a couple hundred protesters down an alley where there was some paddie waggons waiting for them. These guys kept swerving and reving the motors to keep the protesters in front of them and steer them down that alley.
