Hard bag luggage system....
Anyone here using any good hard bag setups?
My minimal research thusfar into a hard bag system for my KLR shows that full rack, mounting system and 2 panniers from Touratech=US$1000, full rack, mounting system and 2 panniers from Happy Trails=US$670 and I have a line on a guy in Kelowna who can fab custom panniers for around CAN$175 for 2- and I'd figure out rack and mounting, probably using one of the above mentioned companies.
Any one got an opinion (and no, I'm not interested in attaching a sidecar  )?

I built a rack for mine and used surplus ammo boxes for the panniers , totally water tight and easy to get replacements for them if I crash one out of commission . Usually around 20 bucks each . Only concern is that they are a bit small . I've looked at the Happy Trail system online and really like it , just don't have the cash ...

No , but the ones they have in stock are about the same size as what I have , and the ones that interest me are temporarily unavailable ..... doh . thanks

Now you know what to look for. The 40mm boxes are avail all over ebay. I can' t do all your work for you...

This might be a dumb question, but have the ammo boxes contained ammo? If so, could this cause problems at border crossings?
