doo hickey repair , permanent?
so you finally break down and hit the dealer for a doo hickey repair with the aftermarket part that is and i'm just wondering how long will the repair last? is this something that needs to be done time and again? how much can i expect to pay for the part and the labor to fix it?

1-piece machined doohickey to replace the 2pieces-welded-together stock doohickey- I thinks its around $50 or 75- pretty sure less than $100. One time replacement. You can do the work yourself if you're sort of mechanically inclined- need a flywheel puller and a wierd wrench. Even if you are doing it out of paranoia, I think its a smart idea- I personally know at least one person who opened their engine up to do the doohickey and found the spring attached to the doohickey was broken and stuff was gettting worn in there...yikes!
Go to http://www.klr650.marknet.us/doohickey.html for detailed instructions- this website is awesome- I used their instructions for valve adjustments and it was SO simple.
