Aftermarket exhaust systems
I've had several exhaust systems however can anyone tell me whats the advantage of the cross over tubes on headers? Do we want them or no?

Depends on the design criteria. There is no definitive answer. Even on the dyno. They can help scavenging, balance exhaust pulses, improve areas of the powerband, attenuate sound, etc, etc. Exhaust systems without them can be designed to "perform" as good by making changes to the diameters, lengths, merges, core, etc. From a manufacturing standpoint, they are difficult and expensive to incorporate, and can be prone to fracturing. I have designed many full race systems on works engines with them. I have been unable to prove beyond a doubt that a properly designed aftermarket exhaust is better with or without them. Even the companies that are famous for them (ie:Akropovic), do not use them on every model.

K Bryant looks like you know your stuff. I've owned several bikes with several different pipes. Muzzy was on my busa. nice pipe but wow it was loud.. Akro was on my 12's. Ti force is on my 10. I've noticed that the Akro and ti force were not as loud as the Muzzy is because of the cross over tubes? Or was it just the difference in displacement? If you were looking for a pipe for the 14 which would you buy and why? Thanks for you input.

Not necessarily because of the cross-overs. All three use different mufflers, cores, and packing materials. Akropovic uses Silent Sport Premium, which attenuates sound better than anything else. They also use a fairly high percentage perf design which further helps. From there, you'd just have to analyze all the differences between the three and their own theories on how best to design exhaust systems.
All are quality exhaust systems and you really can't go wrong. Which one would I buy? With all due respect to my fellow competitors, well my own Area P of course! It will be coming soon (March/April). Full system (4-2-1) and Slip-Ons.

Not yet. Like I said, hopefully in March/April. We have finished most of the R&D the 04-05 ZX10, Busa, and R1 with really good results on the dyno. GSXR1k is next, then the '06 ZX10 & 14.

Let me know I can't ride a stock bike to awfully long especially with those monster weights.

Unfortunetly, the market is fairly small for it. For whatever reason, the 12 full systems just aren't in great demand (overall) at this late day and to do a full R&D program and tool-up for it on a bike that came out in '00, it would be hard to justify . There are many good systems already out there. So it would just be a little too late on the program.... Honestly, I used a Muzzy headpipe that Rob sent me on my personal 12, with my own muffler. Worked great. So I give props to Rob on designing a very good system.
