Kiyama Becomes KMC President as Hamada Returns to Japan Shepard retires after 29 years and Dora receives promotion.
IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 20, 2005)Scott Kiyama has been named president of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (KMC), effective Jan. 1, 2006. Steve Hamada, who joined KMC as president in February 2002, will return to Japan as executive officer and senior manager of the Osaka office of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI).
Kiyama served as director and then vice president, corporate office & planning at KMC since early in 2002. His primary responsibilities were in the areas of planning, vehicle inventory, and production management. Prior to coming to KMC, Kiyama served in both production engineering and sales capacities with KHI, including having been responsible for motorcycle sales in numerous countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America.
The company has also announced the year-end retirement of Bob Shepard, a 29-year veteran of KMC who most recently held the title of executive vice president corporate administration.
Dave Dora, vice president product operations, becomes executive vice president product operations, effective Jan. 1. Commensurate with his promotion, Dora also is appointed to the Board of Directors at KMC. Now reporting to Dora will be Kris Carter, director of human resources, who formerly reported to Shepard.
Two other positions that had previously reported to Shepard will now report to the president. They are Don Koprowski, vice president, general counsel & secretary, and Roger Peterson, vice president information systems.
