Found a Yamaha R7 for sale in Seattle
Is this a good deal?
I found a 1999 Yamaha R7 for sale for $24,000 here locally in Seattle. The dealer has the race kit as well and is including it in the price. But I dont know if this moto is worth it as a motorcycle and for the money. Thoughts??
Here it is here:

Having put the race kit in one, and seen the dyno results, the only value of this bike is as a collector piece. Even in race trim, any new 600 would spank it.

From what I remember alot of them went unsold?? Don't know why outside of the price at the time. Very rare and collectable like Swift mentioned??
When you posted the bike was in Seattle I thought it might be one of Kie's? Do you know of him???

"In order to ensure that the bike complies with a host of emission laws, Yamaha has shut down one of the two injectors per cylinder. This is how the bike is capped at 105 horsepower. Turn on the other injector, add a high-level, free-flowing exhaust system, make a minor modification to the ECU wiring, fit a high pressure fuel pump and the R7 will produce a claimed 135 horsepower. In full race trim expect this figure to rise to around 150 horsepower."
Dry weight is 355lbs by the way. Suh-weet.

Those would be crank hp.
I think it's extraordinarily improbable that a 2005 or 2006 literbike, e.g. ZX-10R (either C or D model) or Gixxer, particularly with a FRACTION of the $14K saved put into goodies, is not a superior motorcycle in every way.

I can vouch for those figures. In race trim saw about 135 hp at the back tire.

Which would match up with the 150 crank. I was just saying I don't think the 150 should be interpreted as rear wheel.

Having ridden one that had been kitted & retuned (second injectors activated, forced air, etc), I would say that i caught the 'hype' around this bike. Very sweet to ride (power/response/weight/handling) and very rare.
But then I loved 0W-01's and RC30's as well...
Nevertheless, I can't afford to have a 'stable' or collection of bikes, so despite my appreciation of it, will continue to own the bikes you other pos(t)ers have indicated.

Looks like the bike ended up in Kie's hands after all?? A little better discription by the owner.
