Kawasaki's 2006 Japan lineup -- so remarkably different from US lineup Kawasaki's 2006 home-market lineup -- as in previous years -- is remarkably different than its US and European offerings.
Here's the full 2006 home market street lineup for Japan, excluding color variations (many models are in two or more colors):

BTW this isn't to say that these are the only Kawasakis that can be gotten there... as you know there's also a system where export model bikes are sold as "re-imports." However the above are the home-market bikes this year.

They didn't sell that well when they were here but they were perceived then as just "old" instead of "classic."
Perhaps if re-released in the US for a single model year -- and being announced that it was only for that year -- there could be some significant sales, now that all this time has passed since they were last available?
I wouldn't mind one either, not at all. Would be a very nice around town bike.

Yup... has an inline Four 250 ever even been sold in the US?
Yamaha, I am pretty sure, is severely bullshitting everyone with the front-covers-screamed "17,500 rpm" claimed redline of the new R6, but a four-cylinder 250 really could be built to turn that or well over that. (Not that I'm saying the Balius is; I don't know.)
BTW, if one grants that a 636cc ZX-6R motor can put out 120 hp with mods, then an equally efficient 250 Four would put out 61 hp. That would be interesting if the motor were a real flyweight.

I can't remember a 250 four?? I do remember riding a buddy's 91 CBR 250/ that had a 19K rpm redline. The thing wouldn't hardly get out of it's own way unless she was on boil above 12000. lol Tons of fun to ride. Ya felt like a GP wanna be as you had to really work the gear box to keep her on song. The thing would rev so high that it would almost hurt your ears.

K, from what I remember the Zephyr reminds me of a kz900...The zrx400 looks like the Z1R...Again, from what I remember...

Racking the brain a little here, but I think the biggest difference between the '73 - 75 Z1 and the first (and only year) KZ900 was that it had thicking engine castings to help cut down on noise. The 4 individual exhaust pipe internals may have been more restrictive as well. Otherwise the style was the same. In '77 they changed to the KZ1000, 8mm exhaust studs (thank god), 4-2 exhaust and some others stuff. So maybe it's more of a mix of the Z1/KZ1000.
The ZRX400 looks like a mix of Z1R & ELR. Tank of the ELR, Bikini fairing of the Z1R.
Either way, it's all good!

I hear ya K...I would like the body of that zrx400 on the new zrx1200 but with the zephyr stripe job and kawasaki writen old style as back in the mid 70s...

Unfortunately I like it so much I'm pretty tempted. A big part of buying the streetfighter kit for the 12, to use part-time not all the time, was that it was way cheaper than getting a ZRX or doing a Z-1 project. And now after ordering the kit, I see this really tasty way to do a ZRX...
However, gotta resist. I would probably rather do a real Z-1 project anyway, presumably with some custom, stock-looking-but-stronger frame than do a looks-a-lot-like-a-Z-1, even though the ZRX motor really is a superior one particularly with a little work. And I really should do neither.

I would like to see the Zephyr 1100 with a Root Beer and Orange paint scheme like the orignal Z1 of 1973.
