A Poor Turnout for Vancouver's 27th Annual Christmas Toy Run
Threatening clouds, damp streets and cold temperatures made for a smaller than normal turnout for Vancouver's 27th Annual Christmas Toy Run. The Charity event organized by the British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM) and the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau drew nearly 10,000 riders last year, however this year attendance was down by at least an estimated 50%. Despite the lack of attendees, many toys were collected for children and needy families for the upcoming holiday season.
Motorcyclists can still help out by sending a toy or monetary donation to Vancouver's Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau at 1370 Napier, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6T 4B4 or contact them at (604) 253-7191.

Nice report...
No mention of the fact that Trev Deeleys collected a shitload of toys beforehand from customers etc. who were unsure/enable to make the event.
No mention of the squids that crashed into each other.
No mention of the knocked down security fences & plethora of garbage participants were responsible for.

Thx. Should be an interesting BCCOM meeting this Wednesday!
Stunning that last year was a record turnout of almost 10k. The press release last week projected 17k attendance. Behind the scenes complaints that the local media wasn't promoting the event at all; lack of volunteers, etc.
Someone needs to get the message out for the future that this is not an HA event, and promote participation / support from all two-wheel enthusiasts.

Did you go SD, or just hear about the fun stuff? Why was there so much garbage? Fill us in...
I never attend the Toy Run because I always attend the Run for the Cure. I did hear about the grumbling about lack of media support prior to the event. IMO, I think they should think about running it on a different weekend- the Run for the Cure always gets the coverage in the next days newspapers- why do they continue to compete with that world-wide event every year? Are you a BCCOM member? What do you think?

Well, I guess I'm just wondering why such a worthy event is so troubled and hoping that there might be a constructive solution. Since I wasn't there, it is unlikely that I can help be part of the solution. I guess I'm wondering if you could be?
