I actually like the fact that they've changed virtually nothing for several years , it makes getting parts way easier than a new every year updated piece .

yah but.....I know a dude who is going to ride down to South America in the next month with his fiance and they both bought 2005 KLRs. Tricky thing is that hers is from later in the year and was built in Thailand and not everything matches/is interchangeable!!!!! The whole reason for buying the same 2 bikes for an adventure like that so you that everything is interchangeable and yet they have noted some differences between the two bikes built in different countries. For exampler, they found when putting on either their aftermarket kickstands or bash guards that the holes didn't all line up and also their shop had significantly more trouble replacing the balancer chain tensioner on her bike than on his.....very worrisome....

You are right! At least the ones coming to Greece (I'm talking about the KL650C3 and onwards have a slightly hidden label which says "Made in Thailand"! I have had 2 of them : C3 Standard Enduro version and C4 SuperMoto (converted by the official Kawi Distributor here in Greece). Both of the bikes run for 11-12.000 km and they both were performing without ANY problem, nothing at all. I'd better say "Assembled in Thailand". Probably for achieving a low MSRP...The S/N is indeed JK*****.

No , but I wanna get one I can take on the job. Wifey said yes to a KTM till she found out the price. A diesel KLR would be the ticket for me.Free fuel being the key.
