What is up with Honda and the VFR? I mean come on now, four years and still no new changes for 2006? I think Honda is now following the innovation from Harley - i.e. change the color options for the bike, add some decals, make minor improvements and call it new.
The VFR is majorly outclassed by the new Sprint ST
Honda breaks their 4 year dev cycle on the the VFR...WTH?
The Superhawk is just plain out dated.
The 919 is majorly outclassed by the Speed Triple and new FZ1.
And no Blackbird replacement.
* New ECU mapping engages VTEC at 6400 rpm to better match the four-valve power curve, producing a smoother power transition.
* New clear turn signal lenses front and rear provide a high-tech look.
* New gradient on windshield for cleaner, sharper styling.
* Styling on tachometer face makes numbers easier to read.
* Satin finish treatment on muffler covers and exhaust heat shield for distinctive styling.
* New silver finish on clutch and brake master cylinders.
* Front cowling center piece color matched to body for integrated styling.
* New colors are Pearl White and Pearl Black.

They don't need to. Honda has a large number of buyers that simply buy Hondas, end of story. Not because of performing better, but because that's all they know.
This isn't to say Honda doesn't also do a lot of re-engineering and all-new for various other bikes... it's just that they don't need to with every bike.
For that matter neither does Kawasaki -- while some bikes are cutting-edge and need frequent redesign, others like the KLR or Concours probably sell the same with no changes in a decade or more as they would with all-new redesigns every 2 years. So for those bikes, redesigns would be a total waste of money, or even, not what their markets want.
Particularly since the VFR has been totally outclassed for a long time, and isn't going to get catapulted into being a hot bike, why bother with a redesign into another plodder albeit all-new plodder?
Needs a life
Full throttle!

I agree. Look at the Concours. Unchanged in what, 15 years? And the buyers love the bike. Cult bikes don't have to, need to, or make sense to change.
