The Seattle 100 Fundraiser by beansbaxter (Daniel) This is for the folks looking to give something back to the motorcycle community and help some needy people at the same time. Not to mention it'll help get some good publicity for the board. The least I ask is that you read through the following...
First a little about the Seattle 100 - taking place at Seattle Pacific Raceways on July 30th, 2005.
Northwest Motorcyclists join hands with world's best in unique fundraiser riders to attempt 100 laps around Seattle's Pacific Raceways
On Saturday, July 30th, 2005, motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to turn out for a completely different kind of fundraiser, the Seattle 100. Hosted by 2Fast Motorcycle Track Days & Instruction (2-fast.org), the event has a single purpose: to raise money for the fight against kidney disease, particularly those that affect children like the young boy pictured above. Participants raise monies through per lap pledges or fixed donations in their quest to circle Pacific Raceway's road course 100 times by the end of the day.
Joining participants in this great effort for 2005 will be Jake Zemke, Jason Disalvo, comedian David Alan Grier and others. They will be in attendance to ride with Seattle 100 participants, sign autographs, and lend support to this Northwest event now gaining national exposure.
Please help our hardworking participants raise money for the cause. Each participant in the event is required to generate a minimum level of donations, and must collect their donations prior to the event in order to qualify for incentive prize giveaways offered by 2Fast Motorcycle Track Days & Instruction in cooperation with The NephCure Foundation. Donations will benefit the not-for-profit NephCure Foundation (nephcure.org), an IRS approved 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the cause and cure of glomerular kidney disease. All donations payable to The NephCure Foundation are tax deductible.
For more information on 2Fast, The Seattle 100, The Nephcure Foundation, or glomerular kidney disease, please visit the following websites: 2-fast.org or nephcure.org.
There are certain points in life where a person stops and thinks about what their purpose is in the world. Is it to live life to the fullest? Is it to help people to the best of their abilities? I saw this event as an opportunity to do both. To do something good for other people while having fun at the same time. In realizing this, I've officially registered for the Seattle 100.
Now I could just do it the normal way and go around asking for donations without giving something in return to the donor. But I've come up with an idea. I think people who have so much good in their hearts have to be recognized in some way. There's a certain matter of respect and thanks deserved for people so willing to give for nothing in return.
At the event, we are planning on setting up a booth to hand out water (hopefully being donated by QFC) to fellow riders and to display some flyers and a huge poster. On these posters and flyers will be the name of each and every person (with the donor's consent, of course) who has given any sort of donation through me - in the manner of saying "thanks" for being such a giving person.
Additionally, if you have a shop/business/organization and you donate $50+ your company logo will be prominently displayed on said poster, as well as your shop/business/organization information listed in the flyers (again, with your consent).
The best part - if your shop/business/organization donates an amount equal to or in excess of $150 you get the aforementioned recognition on the poster and flyers and your shop's/business'/organization's logo or name displayed on the participating motorcycle as a large, graphic decal. Fellas, I would be more than proud to be able to include a BIKELAND.ORG logo on my bike...
Now we're also hoping for alternate types of donations in the form of parts and gear. If you provide any kind of parts/gear that will help me survive 100 laps, or aid the event to be more successful, you will receive recognition in all of the above forms. A good example is QFC donating several cases of water to provide to fellow riders and crew members - if it doesn't fall through, QFC will definitely be a prominent logo on my bike.
In addition, any donated parts/gear will not be kept after the event is over, but will be auctioned off. Any and all income resulting from the auctions will go directly to the Nephcure Foundation as additional donations. Specifically things like spare body work to put all the decals on, and tires for the day would be awesome. And there's no doubt that they'll be good auctions.
Okay. Now that I've laid it down, who's willing to give? Who's willing to help make bikeland.org truly be the "kinder, gentler" bikeland.org? As some of you guys watch Two Wheel Tuesday religiously, the Seattle 100 was featured in one of their shows last year, showing Jason Pridmore giving people rides and interviews with lots of the participants. There is a high probability that this year's event will be televised again in some manner. How cool would it be to see bikeland.org in huge letters on a bike on tv?
If you have any questions at all, please email (beansbaxter@yahoo.com), pm or even call me (509.714.9262), and I'll be more than happy to answer them. If you're willing to donate, make payments through Paypal to beansbaxter@yahoo.com and subject it "Seattle 100" and let me know in the notes who you are and whether or not you'd like to be recognized for your awesome act of kindness.
ANYTHING helps. I know you guys can do this - at least enough to meet the laid out requirements to get the forum's name on the bike... You guys are awesome and will always rock, but you will all definitely rock even more if we can do this...
Sincerely,
Daniel McIntosh

I'm planning on having a cut-off date of receiving donations two weeks before the event on Saturday, July 16th, 2005. That's a week after MotoGP at Laguna Seca, just to give you a time frame. The reason for the two week buffer is so I can have sufficient time to set up the posters, flyers and most importantly, the bike, and to make sure that everyone who has contributed gets the recognition they deserve for their great act of kindness.

Dino and I attended last year, and donated money for bikeland. We plan to do the same this year, and were thinking of doing a 'team bikeland' with some other riders. Anyone interested?

COME ON BIKELAND !!! Lets make this happen! We're going to have to sign up soon 'cuz they're saying it's filling up fast. I think they limit it to 100 riders.

I talked to Mark from 2fast today to find out about registering a team. Basically there's nothing special involved. Once all members are registered individually, I can send a list of the team members to the organizers to gain recognition as a team.
If you want to participate, register soon. There are only about 100 spots available. Before you register however, read the details carefully, including their FAQ. This is not something you can back out of; it is a committment to be there and to raise the required $500 minimum. I think I'm gonna make an effort to attend myself, though I highly doubt I will be taking part as a rider.
So anyone who wants to be part of Team Bikeland at the Seattle 100, please email me your full name and your confirmation/order number when you have registered so I can inform the organizers of the members and ensure we can get enough pit area to accomodate everyone.
swft, thanks for getting the ball rolling on this event and involving us last year.hopefulyl this year we can be there in more than name only.

Freek - You would have to have a bike that would pass tech, as well.
Seriously tho, if you did attend, it would be great to have a team photographer. Hell, if Fish showed up, he could bring his camera, and I'll of course have mine out there.
Most of the credit goes to Daniel (Beansbaxter) for bringing it to a wider audience here. Dino and myself had a blast last year, and look forward to the same this year. I'd encourage anyone to think about contributing in any way they can.

So I noticed there are three levels of groups to choose from when you sign up and register. What group did ya'll sign up for? I chose intermediate, so we'll see.
And how do they let all 3 groups go out and race seperately? Cant figure out how they do it, let one group go till everyone does their hundred, and the next group and again??

they will run it like a track day format this year,.ie-20 on 40 off. Last year it was 2 groups at 30/30.
I think they are going to 3 groups to keep the pace a little closer in each group. Last year there was a lot of cases of guys running up fast on guys that were basically parked in the turns.
I'm going to do the fast group so I can sniff Josh Hayes' exhaust fumes for about 3 seconds.
I'm going to start in the intermediate group so I can ride a few sessions wit me buds though

No, I hit gravel and dumped my ZZR. Just a lowside, but jammed the fuck out of my thumb on my throttle hand.
