TwinCam 88 vs 88B
...for you HD gurus...what the difference between the TwinCam 88 and the TwinCam 88B?...and how would one be preferable to the other?...or is it just a model/platform-specific engine designation?...thanks for your help!

A-HA!!!...I just read that the TC88 and TC88B are essentially the same engine except that the "B" has coupla balance shaft doohickeys to help quell the big V-Twin's vibration in some of the Softail platforms...at the approximate loss of five HPs from the non-balanced 88 in other platforms....ain' t Google great?

The "B" engine is in all Softails after and including 2000 Model year. The balancers also limit the max revs one should turn them. Take a balanced motor to 6800 plus and you may turn the balancers out of timing with the crank. This will RATTLE your fillings out of your mouth!!!
