Kawi should build a ZZR 1000

I think that they need a liter bike that is sport tour oriented. Not a drag ready bike, not a track ready bike, not a naked bike, not a touring bike, not a tt bike, just a get on it and do everything well bike.

I like to sport tour and a liter bike would be great.

Much like what they did with last years ZX6R making it into the ZZR600.

Things they could do would be very similiar to the ZZR600/ZX6R both in concept and ergos.

EXCEPT tune the ZX10R based engine for fuel mileage, give it lower 1,2,3 gear ratios and a higher (overdrive)6th gear.
Keep at least 140 crank hp.
Make the fuel capacity 6 gallons.
Electrical ports already fused, that will handle heated riding gear, heated grips, gps and radar detector.
Adjustable foot pegs and a real seat.
Space under the rear seat.
The tail not jacked up in the air 8 inches more than neccessary.
Dual mufflers, no undertail shit and NOT the abortion looking shit they did with the Z1000!!
Keep the dry weight under 430#s.

NO saddlebags.
I don't want or need big ass bulky ugly hard bags and the related hardware that goes with them. Soft bags work great for me.
Have a real option list of oem parts to sell me. ZG designed windscreens. Wolfman or RKA or similiar designed and built bike specific luggage. Plug and play alarm system, carbon fiber, chrome, and billet goodies.

List price $9999.

EL, pass this on to those that can make this happen :-)

What's wrong with your Z1000? I would think that would be a more logical choice for a possible ZZR1000. The motor is better tuned for the kind of riding a sport tourer would see. Plus, the motor from the Z1000 would be a lot easier to package than the ZX10R motor.

The Z1000 motor is WEAK!!!!!! got no go! Most any newer 600 will run away from Z1000's.

Other than the motor the Z1000 is a great bike. Handles well, stops well, ergos are great. Needs some plastic and another 50cc's of torque and hp.

Whatever the correct basis for a starting point is, the bike I describe needs to be built for ME! LOL. Think Dino might want one too. . .

I'd think that any probs with the motor could be fixed with either cams or compression. And heck, you could use your Z1000 as a platform and start making the sport tourer you want right now.

Looks like Honda subsidiary Honda Italia Industriale S.P.A. has taken the CBR1000 and made it into a sports tour bike, just as I suggested Kawi do with the ZX10R!

As reported by webBikeWorld:

CBF1000 ABS
This all-new touring sports model features a water-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line, 4-cylinder, 1000cc engine based on CBR1000RR engine technology. Including both Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) and an air injection system, the CBF1000 offers exceptionally smooth riding from low to high rpm ranges. In addition, its adjustable seat matches the rider for extra riding comfort.

Compliant with the European Union's Euro 3 emission standards and including a Combined Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard on some types, the CBF1000 offers top-level environmental and safety performance. Produced by Honda subsidiary Honda Italia Industriale S.P.A. (Italy), the CBF1000 it will be released in European markets starting in early 2006 with an annual European sales projection of 10,000 units.

I wonder if there's any chance that we'll see this one on our side of the pond...

Similar basic concept to the Z1000 and Z750S except for having anti-lock brakes.... those models did not / do not sell well for Kawasaki, and I doubt anti-lock brakes would have reversed that.

I have a Z1000 and as I posted earlier, it needs a motor.

I could care less about the anti lock brakes, just somethng more to go wrong. I do wish Kawi would build a bike like I suggested, somthing more like this Honda.

Europe is into motorcycles a lot more than here. They aren't hung up on either a chopper or a race replica trick of the week go fast sumbiatch crotch rocket. All bikes seem to sell well there.

Actually I think the ZZR1200 had the motor you want (145 or so at the crank)... Oh yeah, but they killed that one off due to lack of sales in that segment too.

Don't get me wrong, I think there are a ton of riders that would be really happy on the bike you described! Unfortunately there just aren't many that actually buy them.

Seems to be a problem with the USof A. Bigger, Badder,Better, blah blah, the majority of us are caught up in this.
I for one am getting tired of it, maybe because I am getting too old to know better,LOL.
I am leaning more and more towards practical, not trick of the day, outta date next year, bigger badder, faster, quicker, uglier crap in my life.

....I always thought that an Aprila Falco with a Corbin seat and hardbags would make a great, light-weight sport touring mount....very agile, nice sounds w/a pipe, comfortable w/Corbin...
