My trip through rural Washington state

Fun! Woulda been more fun on the bike, but oh well.

From my house:

Hwy 16E to I5N to 18E to 90E. Turn off onto 970N which hooks up with 97N and takes you up towards Leavenworth.

Turn onto 2E before you get there and head through Dryden, Cashmere and Monitor before reaching Wenatchee.

Got my business there done, headed towards Spokane on 28E. Went through Waterville, Douglas, Farmer, Dry Falls Junction, Coulee City (Didn't stop at the dam, tho), Hartline and Almira.

Almost ran out of gas, but found an old Cenex station in Wilbur. Rolled through Creston, Telford, Davenport, Reardon and Deep Creek. Stopped at Fairchild AFB to take a piss (bout all the air force is good for) and bought some geedunk at the PX.

Back on I90 at Spokane (traffic sucks) out to Liberty Lake. Got a room in Spokane, visited briefly with BeansBaxter and then crashed for the night.

Got up the next morning and spent all day at Liberty Lake. Got done too late and needed to get on the road, so headed back west on I90, then caught 195S through Spangle, Rosaria and Thorton.

Steptoe was a weird name, but not much to see...Kept on chugging along, turned off onto 26W at Colfax. Man, what a nice road! Maybe not twisty enough to gain notice from a lot of peeps, but excellent pavement, no cops and nice rolling hills and gentle curves. Very pretty.

Kept on going Dusty, turned onto 127S and headed through Peyton and Central Ferry before turning onto 12W. Chard, Jackson and Delaney came and went as I drove along. Went for a long ways before Dayton showed up in front of me.

Dumas, Lewis (Lewis and Clark State Park) and Varna all came and went. Rolled through Waitsburg. At this point, it was starting too look like a big city because it had more than three stops signs in town! Minnick and Dixie came and went. Yep, that's right folks. Way down southern WA, in the heart of Dixie!

Buroker was the last small town before Walla Walla. Worked there for the day (Wednesday) then hopped back in the car and continued west on 12. Road wasn't so nice, way too many cops. But I made it through ok and Touchet, Wallula and Burbank scrolled on by.

Then there's Pasco. Ah yes, lovely Pasco. Don't know what anyone does down here, other than get irradiated. And don't buy the fruit. Hanford has been leaking bad stuff into the aquifer for 50 years...

Jumped onto 128W, headed through Richland and turned onto 240W. There's a small dam called Horn Rapids, and I swear, if you farted, someone would put a sign up advertising 'Horn Rapid Farts'... In any case, it's obviously turning into a Richland bedroom communiy. At this point, I'm driving *through* the backside of the Hanford Reservation. Lotsa lotsa no tresspassing signs.

240W dumps back onto 24W and I continue through the reservation to 243, which apears to be going west? Eventually (around Desert) it bends north and takes me up past Mattawa and Beverly before it dumps me back on I90 right before the bridge across the Columbia and into Vantage.

It's kinda funny, my route looks like a lollipop laying on it's side, and I've left and got back onto I 90 within just a few miles of each point.

So, after Ellensburg, I pass the same exit I used a few days earlier when I turned off and headed up to Wenatchee.

The rest of it is just the same old, same old stuff, got back to the crib, unpacked the car, drove over and pikced up the dog.

...nah, don't sweat the paragraph breaks...it makes for easier reading for those with diminishing near-sighted abilities

Know what you mean. While I was in traction with the femur broken in four places, they started me off with some hella cocaine derivative for the pain. Didn't take any, so they knocked me down to something else, then finally down to Tylenol III. I never really felt any pain the whole stay in the hospital, with regards to the leg. What hurt was the broken off stubs of front teeth with the nerves hanging out in the wind.
