...like tractors and tractor beams...it gets you there where no man has gone before...especially Busas...unless they missed the turn and hit the dusty trail (or a resonable facsimile thereof)...I love my KLR650 and it loves Baja!

I guess it really depends on what kind of terrain you live near or ride on a lot. Also how fast you wanna go. I've notched the speed back in the last few years except in places where speed will get you out of trouble.

For instance, Steve Crevier had 1 of the big strictly off road KTMs, 520cc or 640, can't recall. He'd take it with him when in California and other places. Up here, he said it was practically useless on the trails because it had too much power, but in the desert, it was THE machine to have.

I like logging roads where you can get the bike sliding around. I still think it's probably better education than any track day. But I still like to go on single track and want a bike that doesnt weigh a ton and I can legally go to the corner store on without getting hassled. The 400 although for any long pavement distance, is impractical, almost is the perfect bike for me.

A friend said last year that you really need 2 dual sport bikes. A converted enduro and then something like a KLR, KTM 640 Adventurer etc.

I picture a lot of slimy single track, steep hills and huge trees where newbusa lives. WR series bikes would be perfect.........I think.

Actually we have fire roads and tight trails where you are bashing your brush guards and also lots of long steep hills sometimes very slimy so lots of diff stuff.I have used Sikorskys XR650 loads of time and unless i am on a fireroad its just too much power.I find my little WRF250 is fine for most situations on the street though it could use more jam.
