cam timing

Oh wise Doug--
could you give me a starting point for degreeing stock cams--1195 zx11-1mm over valves-41FCR's-dyna 2000--10.5k redline. I got alot of base gasket in it-pistons in the hole .017 (cant go over 220psi comp.)

degree cams

Are you interested in method or suggested settings? I use the same cams in my DSR road race car. Usually advance the intake a couple of degrees.
make sure you have all the hardware on including the rub block over the chain.
Slot the cam gears and spot face the bolt seat
I use the last valve away from the chain.
"0" lash or as close as possible
use 0.040 in of lift as measurement point
BTW for better oil flow modify the oil filter bolt, pull the spring and ball, drill to larger dia, slot the lower oil inlet hole and shorten the bolt 1/8 inch.
