dual sport riding in Arkansas
I live in Oklahoma. I was wondering if anyone has info about riding in western Arkansas. I saw some online about a year ago, but I have been unable to find lately.
Thank you in advance,
Huero

Hey tlsewisz, I went to the link, there are great pics. And even pages for earlier year FCT's. I was unable to find any real information on exactly where. I know Turner's bend from Street bike trips. I bet I've been there two dozen times.
Anyway, lastnight, I e-mailed the cooridinator "Lemke". Well, this morning he emailed me back with several links showing exactly where to go. The guy seemed really cool.
I appreciate the info, it has really helped.

FYI This link is my first attempt at a web site. It is only one page(so far) and is slow to load. The Pic's are from a DS trip to Silverton, Colorado in 09/03.

BTW the address is caps sensitive

Where to ride dual sport in western Arkansas
The best larger dual sport bike trails are located SE of Paris, AR. The site for the place is: http://www.fs.fed.us/oonf/ozark/recreation/huckleberry.html There are a lot of fun Forest Service dirt roads north and east of Oark, AR. Have a look at the ride route photos for the 2004 FCT and see what I mean. http://dualsportmagazine.com/2004FCT.html You will need an Ozark NF map or GPS files for this area. I find that the FS maps are the most accurate. Be very aware of creek crossings after a rain in this area as they will swell quickly and the water runs fast and deep.
A great place to wander along quiet dirt Forest Service roads is east of Mena, AR. I have put on a dual sport ride for 2 years around Mena and found the place to offer a few hunderd miles of great dirt roads. Make sure you buy a Forest Service map or load your GPS with the Roads & Rec for the area. For photos of the roads around Mena go to my FCT pages for 1999 & 2000. http://dualsportmagazine.com/NewFiles/OzarksFallColorTour.htm and http://www.dualsportmagazine.com/NewFiles/2000ColorTour.html The creeks stay at about the same depth even in the rain in this area.
My 2004 Ozarks Fall Color Tour is coming together. As with the last couple years it will headquarter in Clarksville, AR. Ride reservations will begin in August.
