Winning Daytona is certainly everything to Honda. Two months ago, I was in a Honda dealership and a salesman was telling me all about how Honda was dominating AMA pro racing. And really he believed what he was telling me. Daytona is the worst track on the AMA circuit but it still gets the most public exposure.

I'm not sure I'd agree that it's the worest track in AMA. I think it's actually better than a lot of tracks in AMA. But hands down one of if not thee most dangerous track in AMA.

hitman12 - The Daytona Honda's were not as trick as many would like to believe. We actually were down on power compared to most. But the draft makes a big diff at Daytona. Our biggest problem was more weight than power. Going to FX this year will help a lot. We can take off much more weight, along with more engine mods. It will be an exciting class.
Also, we "did podium" at both Brainard (won), and Barber (3rd) with Miguel as well.

There is an unconfirmed rumor that the new Honda superbike has 215HP (At the crank I think), and did produce the fastest top speed and lap times at Daytona. It's not exactly the biggest sign of being down on power so far. However, the stock dealership CBR1000R, by simple mathmatics in terms of engine dynamics should be down on power. There choice in bore and stroke sizes is puzzuling, except that it seems they attempted to get a smooth power band at the same time sacrificing a more powerful one.

I was referring to the 600 from last year.
As far as the 1000, all I can say is that it's fast. Don't read too much into the rumored hp claims. A big thing is that it gets traction and maintains it, so that transfers into big speed and the appearance of massive hp (though it does have big power). The RC51 spun the tire more.

I dont think I can agree with you on that draft issue K, I watched that run from a loonnnnnnngggg way back behind the Yamaha and closed on him like he was on the brakes.
But that's water under the bridge, but I know all the teams had protest against what they believed was a super powered Honda 600
