Insurance for ZX-10R
Well, I just got off the phone with my insurance co.
Looks like a strict displacement plan for bikes categorized as sportbikes/standards.
I have $250k liabilities, $500 ded on my comprehensive, and $5k medical expenses for rider/passenger. Quotes are for 5000 mi/yr as pleasure vehicle.
6 mo quote for an '04 ZX-10R is approx $550.
6 mo quote for an '04 ZRX-1200R is approx $570.
6 mos quote for an '04 ZX-12R is approx $600.
For comparison, my '87 CBR1000F was $490/6mo.
Anyone think this is unreasonable for the ZX-10R?

Yeah, I do, but that is a relative assumtion. I don't know where you live, your age, driving record, past claims record or any of that stuff they (insurance community) find really important.
I have a clear record, 41 y.o.a., male, married, 28 years on bikes, have a safety course. I insure my bikes, cars and house with the same company. My 96 CBR900RR is less than $460 annually, 00ZX12R is $510 annually. I have yet to call in for a quote on the ZX10R, your post have sparked my interest though.
Thanks,
JB

Oh, I'm 37, married with children, have no speeding tickets, one claim in the last 20 years (on the wreckage of my last bike).
The $490/6 mo on the CBR was when I was 36, married with children, no tickets, no claims.
I live in Arizona - that tends to raise the insurance rates a tad. Also, note that my coverage is quite a bit more substantial than the minimums - that medical insurance is about $190 of the premium.

I believe for AZ that's not too bad a quote, as soon as I dropped my truck off to have it stored with family my insurance went up by almost double what it was in FL.

At least you can get insurance...I am 25, nothing on my driving record, and I cant get insurance on my motorcycle, a ZX-12R. I have taken the Advanced Safety Course even, but still no luck. Maybe it's cause I am brown, but whatever it is, it makes me sad.
I am so scared if my 12 ever goes down I am plum out of luck.
But hey, still vote for me as moderator!

never got a ticket on a motorcycle that stuck i should say...
one ticket got dropped in court cause the cop never actually pulled me over and had me take my helmet off, so i lied and said it wasnt me riding the bike at the time, she couldnt prove it was me on the bike so the ticket dropped, that was in tacoma when i was stationed out there
if u remember my spill about getting a ticket in spokane for doing nothing, well that ticket was dropped cause the state patrol didnt file the ticket with the courts in the fourteen days alotted, so the prosecutor dropped the ticket at the court hearing...
and the one here in pullman, a cop gave me for no good reason, i pleaded a stipulated agreement, paid some fines, and didnt get a ticket for a year thereafter so the ticket never went on my record....
so beansbaxter has a perfectly clean driving record, another good reason to vote for me as moderator!

and that doesnt include all the times i have been pulled over and the officer of the law just didnt issue me a ticket, just gave me a warning....
there were lots of times that happened, many funny stories, but even one of me and about eight other bikes, i was clocked at 171 in a 65 and still walked away with nothing but a check for my endorsement on my license

$540 a year with State Farm, and that is with $50 comp and $250 broad collision, and higher medicals. If I went with the $500/$500 that gets the lowest price, I would be around $400 even. The last time I paid for my 96 9R, it was $271 a year.

I pay $215.00 year for 2004 ZX-10R state farm they do not care what type of bike as they base premiums on cc's not performance categories which crucify sport bikes.
I live with 4-6 months of winter and is part of reason for lower rate from state farm in my State. Have heard of other insurance company that also goes by cc's but have not called yet.
Glad I found out about state farm cause I have been quoted $1,800.00 per year from other companies....

Erie Insurance
They give a first accident and first ticket wavier.
$830.00 per year. (38 married with no tickets or accidents)
They have my house, cars, and life policies.
Thought it was a little high so I will price around more when renewal comes around. Good Company.
