10R and Tranny probs? Just wondering if anyone knows if Kawasaki has address the problem with the transmission and has made or is going to fix it on the production bikes before shipping?

I believe I said I'd buy the one that handles the best. I like the R1 looks wise much better than the 10R. But the 10R has some awesome extra's that make me think it might be the best handling bike of the two. Such as the adjustable slipper clutch, brake system im in love with, and a small 600 like frame that sounds (From the reviews) like it turns just as good as the 636 (which I own), or better. If thats ture, that says a hell of a lot. Only concern I have is the transmission.

CDR, I remember some negative comments about the 636 transmission during the various comparison tests last year. I am curious, what has been your experience with the transmission on your 636? Any problems?
Like I have said previously. I have an R1 and an R6 sitting in my garage right now and I can tell you, I had shifting problems with both bikes when they were virgins. They still do not shift quite as well as some bikes I have ridden but it is not a big issue. The R1 has almost 27,000 miles on the clock and the R6 is close to 14.000 miles right now. The more I ride, the better they get. But I doubt that they will ever get to "perfect".

Well, the transmission was a little rough and sometimes hard to get into gear especally if you went without the clutch. But after I put a few thousand miles in it, that took away from the roughness of shifting. But the bike never had any problems close to what the 10R is doing, never missed shifts, or forced repeated attempts to get it in gear. Once I got it broken in, no other trans felt as good to me. Not saying there arent any better, but the closed one I felt was the 600RR honda. That thing has a pretty smooth shift, but doesnt like shifting without the clutch from my experiance. Im sure the 10R transmission will do a lot better once it's broken in, but the missed shifts sounds like its a little more than a need to break in, perhaps a stronger linkage or different internals? But as of right now thats the only thing thats in the back of my head. I hope Kawasaki sorts it out before production realsse.
