Hayes Wins F1, Stern Wins Title At Willow, Kopecky Quits WSMC

Attack Kawasaki's Josh Hayes rode a 2004 ZX-10R to win the featured F1 race during the final WSMC weekend of the 2003 season, at Willow Springs International Raceway.
Jeff Stern won the 2003 WSMC Overall Championship without challenge, the lone other title contender (and defending Champion) Jeremy Toye missing the November WSMC weekend to race in Macau and missing this weekend due to ribs broken in a SuperMoto crash.
And Kenny Kopecky, the only Operations Manager WSMC has ever had, announced that he is quitting his job running the club after 12 years and is moving back to San Diego. Kopecky received a standing ovation of appreciation at the riders' meeting after making his announcement.
Stern crashed in turn five early in the F1 race, bringing out a red flag, but he was uninjured and his drive toward the overall title undiminished. When Stern fell, Hayes was out front and sailing. At the restart, Hayes again took the lead and checked out, while Stoney Landers held second on his Superstock GSX-R1000 and Chris Siglin and Corey Eaton battled for third and edged closer to Landers. At the line it was Eaton just ahead of Siglin, followed by a charging Will Eikenberry on a Kawasaki 636 ZX-6R.

very cool. kinda funny to see a bike that's not even available to the public yet winning a race. not a bad start for the 10r i'd say!

Yah, will be nice to see it at Daytona. But I don't expect it to finish in the top ten...
