Hey the Kaws aren't doing so bad really considering they are BRAND new with not much track time etc. And only tire testing?!?

We might see one of the best brother-brother battles ever this year. First of all, it will be Ben on the honda, and Eric on the ducati. Secondly, Tommy and Rodger Lee on the Kawasakis! Should be fun to watch!

so i'm sure this is a naive question since i dont really follow this too closely, but why dont i see any yamis or kaws in superbike, and sukz or hondas in superstock?

Good question! Kaw and Yama aren't putting Factory teams in Superbike. But there will be near-factory teams. Honda and Suz are more interested in using the tire tests for their Superbike efforts.

Tommy Hayden - Kawasaki ZX-10R - 1:50.577 - 179 mph
Josh Hayes - Kawasaki ZX-10R - 1:50.977 - 182 mph
Interesting, Hayes supersport is faster (mph) than Mladin's superbike.
The Honda's are way fast compared to every other bike.
10 mph is a lot to try and catch up to, and the Honda is a just as new of a bike as the R1,and the ZX10R. Looks like as usual, Honda has done the most development before introduction.
To bad the CBR1000 is so dam ugly! Reminds me of a 'busa, fast but ugly.

The honda was also a superbike with full on frame modifications and engine modifications. You can't compare apples and oranges. The Kawasaki and Yamaha bikes were superstock, even though hayes is supposed to have a superbike 10R (Not enough parts yet) and had slight mods. The sad thing is that dispite the yamaha and kawaski being superstock they were extremly close to the superbike times, and in some cases beating them (Yamaha beat the gsx superbikes a few times). You have to give kawasaki and yamaha credit for building some trick ass bikes, imagine how good there superbikes could be.

Damn it CDR, I can't argue with anything you said there. I will add that the Honda was running on 16.5" slicks, the Kawasaki and Yamaha were on 17" slicks because of the class rules. The 16.5" slicks have a much larger footprint which should give the Honda a better launch off of the corner and that should translate into more straight away speed as well.
