As the rumors fly!

Naturallly, from another forum...

Some insiders to the racing community are passing around an e-mail from a german guy who says that motorrad magazine has all three of them for testing already, says they just put pirelli DOT's on all the bikes and set up the stock suspensions.
Kawi had the most dyno HP and the R1 the least, the honda slotting in between, honda is only 8-10lbs heavier than the others on real scales.
Here's the clincher, the honda has been lapping over a second quicker than the other bikes on whatever circuit their using in southern europe, I dont know how many testers are involved but supposedly the talk is how much earlier you can get on the gas with the honda and the amazing chassis.
Again, all of this is just hearsay but it was passed on to me by john ulrich so it should carry some weight.
I personally am not suprised in the least.

I think John Ulrich would be a pretty good source. The news does not surprise me nor does it disappoint me. Of course, there is room for concern in the rumored fact that the Honda was a second a lap faster. The CBR600RR seemed to be the best dialed in of the 600 bikes last year out of the box so it doesn't surprise me that Honda did a good job on the 1000. One big improvement is that the 600RR Kawi was never credited with good HP last year, so having the best HP is a big positive for the green bike. I am hoping that the basic chassis on the ZX10 is good and responds to tuning. It could be an interesting year.

NO magazine has a ZX10 any where in the world and the OEM's are NOT going to get together to do their own comparisons.....I'm calling bull on this one.

They do "NOT" have one of our machines.

I think that one got a rise out of XL. fish-antlers is right about the cryptic comment. This one definitely was not vague and evasive. Thanks extremelean, for the input.

I knew that would draw XL out and I figured if anyone could call a legit BS, it would be him. I just never imagined it would have been so "to the point"!

If John Ulrich says it took place, then it took place. And if the magazine is Motorrad, then it's even more believeable. They seem to always get the worldwide scoop. The truth will set you free...

kb, I tend to agree with you. Mr. Ulrich has always been a no BS kid of guy and Motorrad is a well respected magazine, often getting the scoop LONG before any other. I will also admit that I was surprised by XL's response being so... "non-cryptic". It actually give it some "validity" and brings into question "my" source claiming the info came from Mr. Ulrich. All the same, my source is equally a straight shooter and if he claims his source was DIRECT from Mr. Ulrich, I find it hard to question him as well.

With the 10R's supposed release date being about a month away, why wouldn't it be logical to get a couple of them in the hands of "responsible" bike magazines? The only thing that makes this "rumor" (and that's all it is) doubtful is that the release dates for both the CBR and especially the R1, are well into the first quarter of next year. To have "magazine models" available at this time, several months before us mere morals well even get a chance to sit on one... does raise a few eyebrows.

Those same sources say Bostrom was jazzed by the new 10R. ""The press will get their crack at riding the new Kawi at Homestead next month"". Stay tuned.

This is fun isn't it! XL - you must be really high up in the food chain to know without a doubt, KHI has not released any ZX10's to any magazine anywhere in the world.

Reading the above story............one would have to wonder..................why the Suzuki was left out of the comparo...........

It IS readily available................and it IS the benchmark against which the others will be judged.

Would my 6'1"/235lb/32" inseam fit reasonably for a med-distance (sub 300milers) local road trip on one of these ZX-10Rs? Are the ergos 'looser' than the ZX-6R? I'll keep the 12 for the interstate stuff.
