Who really gives a crap about whether or not Kaw goes racing Superbike or not???? That's not the reason I buy bikes!!
Other wise i'd buy a "cough cough" Honda or a Triumph?!?!?! lol (It actually makes more sense to race Superstock and Supersport.)
But seriously boys and girls......... but what you think looks good and what fits your style and your past experience of that product which I must ad was always great!!!!! Give'm credit at least they are there in most forms of racing and do fairly well considering this is not there main business focus all the time. Hey ......... the Japs have taken a bit of a hit latley on industrial business ventures. They must have some reasons. Maybe Bostrom isn't the "nicest greatest guy after all either"!?!?

Whether Kawasaki races Superbike does not solely affect my buying decision either. But I would much rather cheer for a rider I like on a bike I like. I was a Kawasaki fan long before I knew Eric Bostrom existed. All of my friends know when I am cut that I bleed green. Eric was our best but certainly not our only chance to see a green bike out front. Shit they should have given him a MotoGP ride. He would be better than anyone else Eckl can put on the bike. Eckl wanted a "european" rider. If Kawasaki was smart they would keep Bostorm, try to get Muzzy back and fire Eckl. Muzzy accomplished much more than Eckl ever will.

Besides, I didn't want to put up with another year of listening to Matt Mladin shoot his mouth off about one thing or another. I have been to Australia. I really have always liked Australians. I swear, Matt Mladin can't an Australian. Now, I will just have to cheer for Ben Bostrom or DuHamel.

I'm just wondering if Tommy Hayden can do any good with a Supersport bike in Superbike? Will rules alow it? You know he really did well in 750 with a 636. How far off the pace could he be?

AMA rules stipulate that a rider can't compete in both Superbike and Supersport.

If I understand what I have read about the new AMA rules, I thinkTommy Hayden will be competing in Supersport (600cc class) and Superstock (1000cc class) but cannot compete in FX (600cc class) and Superbike (1000cc class). And I would guess that Tony Meiring and Roger Lee Hayden will be doing the same thing. Thank you, AMA for making this weird ass class structure.... The only comparison that can be drawn would be to compare Superstock lap times to Superbike lap times. But I doubt that would be very fair since Superstock is going to be running on 17" slicks and Superbike is on 16.5" slicks. According to the tire manufacturers, they haven't put any development into 17" slicks in recent years since the 16.5" slicks are far superior and no one was using 17" slicks. (until the wonderful AMA rule changes for next year).

It will still boil down to the best riders on the best bikes. Mladin on a Superstock, with 17" slicks, would probably play havoc with the Superbike guys on many tracks. The 2nd tier factory guys will not/would not.

Zammy - even if Tommy could ride in Superbike, he is a 2nd tier fast guy. He wouldn't be able to race for a win. He is an awesome rider (as of course his brothers are...). But the "750" class last year did not have the upper tier factory riders. Though he had huge success in the class on the little 636, I'm not exactly sure what that truly showed us. Personally, I think he was the best rider regardless of the bike he rode. Would he have beaten Yates, Mladin, Spies on GSXR750's? Don't think so.... But it sure will be interesting to see how he does in Superstock on the 10!!!!

"Our decision is to put our team effort behind the Superstock and Supersport series at a time when the AMA's Superbike series is being restructured."

Kawasaki's race boss Bruce Stjernstrom comments on Kawasaki's pull-out of the AMA Superbike class.

Personally I think they are smart!

Very interesting reading: an interview in www.amasuperbike.com with Ducati's Superbike boss, Paolo Ciabatti.

I'm thrilled they are racing the 10-R. When the factory team pulled out of Superbike me and my buds were shaking our heads and asking, "Then why the hell are they running MotoGP and not doing Superbike?"

But it's rather coming together now.

It would be nice to see Kawi at the podium for a change. I'm sick of Honda winning all the damned time (erm, no offense, there, K!)

But damn, I like the shit out of Duhamel. Us older guys should. "old age and treacher will beat youth and exuberence every time" .... or something like that.
