Kawasaki Racing Plans 2004? What classes will Kawasaki race next year? MotoGP, World Superbike, World Supersport, AMA Superbike, AMA SuperStock, AMA Supersport, British Superbike, British Supersport, Australian Superbike?
I know they have E'Boz signed for something. In AMA racing, I thought I read that they signed Roger Lee Hayden. I can't remember if the kept both Tommy Hayden and Tony Meiring. And what classes will they be racing? I guess both of the MotoGP pilots are gone. I can't see Kawasaki kicking in the money necessary to get one of the half dozen top MotoGP pilots. If Rossi really wants a challange, I know where he can get one. I am sure Bertolouchi (spelling ?) will be in WSBK with the ZX10. After a complete rework of the KX-6RR, it would be a shame not to campaign it in World Supersport. I heard that they had signed a couple of young guns for Australian Superbike. More questions than answers.

Tommy is on the factory team. Roger Lee is going to the Attack team. Tony the Tiger will be riding factory as well. Expect to see the 10R in Supersport, but I don't know if there will be any factory team in Superbike.

Gee, I forgot Team Attack Kawasaki. They should be formidable allies. I am not sure who they will have for riders. Their championship winning riders were actually under contract to Suzuki not Team Attack Suzuki.

Now that you remind me, I am pretty sure it was Roger Lee AND Tony Meiring on Attack Kawasaki team. E'boz and Tommy Hayden on Team Kawasaki. AMASuperbike.com reports that E'boz rode for the first time since his wreck at Laguna Seca this last weekend. It was closed to the press and public test. He rode the ZX10. They report that he was "jazzed" with the "10". I hope that it is not just PR speak. Hey Extremelean, were you at the test?

Nah....I wasnt there at the test....one of my co workers was.....I'm to important to be going to those tests.....LOL......NOT!!!

Extremelean, I guess sometimes those tests can be more work than fun, especially if you are not the designated pilot. You probably told them you didn't want to go, right.
I know this is the "10" forum, have you had a chance to lay eyes on the '04 6RR. I have a buddy who has his fingers crossed that it won't be a disappointment this time around. The "10" is getting all of the press (for good reason) and nobody is really talking about the 6RR.

An unlikely source but I guess it could be reliable. Ben Spies (Team Suzuki) is quoted in cyclenews.com as saying that both Eric Bostrom and Tommy Hayden will be racing in AMA Superstock class (ZX10) next year. And, if I understand what I have read, according to the AMA rules, that will mean they can't race in Superbike also.
Mr. extremelean are you out there? Do you have any comments?

Methinks you are right. Don't spect to see Kaw race superbike. What will be funny is the mad scramble by speed tv for FX coverage...

I have mixed emotions.... about Kawasaki not running superbike class. I prefer the concept of running bikes that are really based on production models (superstock). Not $100K+ profile bikes (Superbike). I hope Superstock turns out to be the class of the future.
But I sure would like to have seen E'Boz kick Matt "Whiner" Mladin's butt in Superbike class next year. I can't understand why such a fantastic, talented rider like Mladin can't quit bad-mouthing his competitors. He has made it perfectly obvious that he has NO respect for any other AMA superbike rider, especially E'Boz.

Good info/rumors! Thanks! I think it'd be a mistake for EBoz to go to motogp this year. I'd wait till next year at the earliest...Oh hell, what am I saying, considering I don't a clue what it's like to be in EBoz's shoes, I can hardly judge what he wants to do!

I think that E'Boz is a terrific rider. I have often wondered how much of the success he had with the ZX7, the last couple of years, was due to his just willing the bike to the front of the pack.
In MotoGP, Kawasaki was obviously off the pace of most of the field. Over the winter Honda, Ducati and the rest are not just sitting around letting Kawasaki catch up. It is a huge uphill battle. And the hill is getting bigger.
I have no idea what the missing element (s) are. Horsepower, chassis, tires, rider speed or the ability to put the package together where it works.
I would love to see E'Boz in MotoGP on a green bike, but I don't want to see him battling for the last points paying position, like they were this year.

Kaw is going to battle Suzuki, Proton, Aprilla, if they work hard over the winter. If Eric did indeed go MotoGP, it would probably be the same battle, except he'd probably actually make the bike competitive with those same guys. It's a huge leap to Honda & Ducati, and unless there is a major change with the bike.... Eric is just one piece of the puzzle that's missing. It's the whole package.

The pack is definately splitting into two contingents. Honda/Ducati/Yamaha and Proton/Kawasaki/Suzuki/KTM?? Did you catch the rumor that Kawasaki might buy the V4 from KTM?
posted November 13, 2003 06:43 PM
Oops, forgot about Yamaha. They almost fit in between as a second group unto themselves. The Ace card is Rossi. We'll see.....
That's a tasty rumor on the KTM engine going to Kaw. All I heard is that they have 8 engines or so, and even though they are not going to race MotoGP, they are finishing the project and hope to lease them out. Man that would be strange if Kaw bought it......

Interesting but potentially troubling stories if you are a Kawasaki Racing / E'Boz fan. Damn. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Given that Kaw is not going Superbike racing, I don't think I'm going to support their non-effort by purchasing a ZX10R. Race on sunday, sell on monday only works for me when they race...
