PROJECT "BLUE BALLS"
2004 ZX10R
UPGRADED BRAKING SYSTEM BLAH BLAH BLAH
ok now that my braking had been addressed i want to move on to suspension
right now i have the regular stock shock and spring for the rear
and i have a 2002 suzuki hayabusa rear shock which after trying,,,actually fits under the rear
im 6 foot and fluctuate from 205-220 pounds (depends on the weather i dont work out alot but when i do i drop weight FAST thanks to the military)
i want to get my suspension to where its set up for my weight as much as possible i ride pretty aggressive on the street and if everything go right i want to do as much track days as possible
no not drag racing ROAD RACING
friend of mine gave me his shock think i should have the busa shock revalved to my weight or the stock zx10r shock done?
also what are my options for the front?
and finally where can i send my stock ohlins steering damper to get revalved
fellas the reason why im asking all of this is a few years back i owned a 2004 zx12r did the typical stupid back from iraq 2 much money in my account move
i bought a big bore kit got headwork done and slapped the biggest cams i could in it
not upgrading the brakes or suspension which ultimately sent my dumb squid newbie think i know it all ass flying over the handle bars at 185+ mph... i still ride the same i just you know trying to do things the right way eventually i will do alot of motor work but i want to address the rest of the bike before i start pouring money into the engine thought i give a little back drop before i get a million and one questions so you can kinda understand

I myself would not use the Hayabusa shock. You just don't know what problems you might encounter trying to mount it up. I had the rear shock rebuilt with Race Tech parts same with the front. I put new springs in the forks but Race Tech said the rear spring was ok for my weight 200lbs and did not need to be replaced. I have been very happy with the results the suspension works much better. The real key is the oil in the shock and forks its total crap from Kawi. They use high quality oil and of course a different weight. I find the suspension works more smoothly soaking up bumps and allowing me to be more confident at speed on the bike. The cost was high about 750 bucks but for me well worth it. Your 04 did not come with a steering dampner the Olin's is an aftermarket add on. If you have a competent local shop they should be able to rebuild it with Olin's parts or call Ohlin's directly and see what they have to say. I will say that when you say Ohlin's your saying expensive. I put a GPR rotorary stabilizer on and have had no problems.

I wouldn't waste your time with the Busa Shock. I would send your shock out to Racetech or someone similar and get the shock worked for your weight and riding style. You will probably need a spring along with that, not certain. If you want to get the most out of the bike with your weight I wouldn't waste time on something that isn't tried and true. You'll be wasting time and money and probably not be happy.

Free sounds good till you have to spend a lot of money to make that shock work. Hayabusa stock suspension is shit the one I had wallowed like a pig in mud till I race teched the front and rear and then the bike was a lot more fun to ride. The spring rate and valving in that shock are out in the ozone layer for a 10. It will cost you a lot of money to respring and revalve that shock. The Hayabusa is a shit load heavier than a 10. Sell the shock and use the money to race tech the 10 suspension. If you don't believe me call Race Tech and tell them your plan and see what they say.

paint is finally done...
things left to do
STRENGTHEN front air ram...after i buy another one (this will be #3)
change out wheel bearings front and rear
change tires (new dunlops)
have bike dyno'd (learned my lesson from last cluster fuck ZX12R)
take bike to have suspension tweaked and tuned for my weight and riding style (aggressive street/track road course days)
bleed brakes and put fresh dot 4 fluid in
flush cooling system
change oil
i decided to wait until this winter to install the race head from garth its already june by the time i get around to putting that on having it dialed in and dyno'd it'll be july/august
all of that power upgrade crap can wait
