ZX10 RECALL
Kawasaki recalls motorcycles to fix oil leak
The Associated Press Published: Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 - 6:21 am Last Modified: Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 - 6:31 am
DETROIT -- Kawasaki is recalling nearly 4,200 Ninja ZX-10R motorcycles in the U.S. because oil can leak onto the rear tire and cause a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in documents on its website that the recall affects bikes from the 2011 and 2012 model years. They were made from Sept. 1, 2010 to Feb. 15, 2012.
The documents say oil can leak from the crankcase and pool. Continued use could cause the oil to spill onto the rear tire. Kawasaki says the problem hasn't caused any crashes or injuries.
The company will notify owners and dealers will seal the crankcase to stop the leak.

It was for some late 2011 models and early 2012 units. If you have not recieved a notice from Kawi you should be good. If your worried call the dealer give them your serial number and they will let you know if its a recall unit. Since you have not heard anything I'm thinking your bike is ok......

I wouldn't trust calling the dealership, instead I recommend everyone here go to this link and regardless of your bike's year or model, put in your VIN # (never understood why we always say vin "number" when the "N" in v.i.n. already stands for number!)
On my 2000 12r about a year ago I found outstanding recalls!!

Each recall has specific meathod of demarcation on the motorcycle. If the stator recall has been completed there will be a blue paint mark on the subframe under rear seat. Would be good to compile a list of demarcations for owners for they could easily verify completion of old and pending recalls.
If people post other demarcations ill make it into a sticky?
