Since the 2011 zx10 is going away from convebtional bucket and shim DOHC, to the fulcrum finger follower valve actuation, it will be able to utilise much more aggressive cam profiles.

It is very similar in theory to the BMW valvetrain, with the exceptiuon the zx10 will have variable fulcrum valve actuation. meaning peak matching the BMW and more bottom and mid range power too.

Revolutionary design and theory. Time will tell if they got it right
We need this valvtrain on a new zx14
a 50 lb diet, simplified plastics, and updated suspension would also be nice.

+1 ... Would not be that hard to refit the zx14 with this kind of valve train .. ..

So the C14 ,Z1000 and the ZX10 got up grades , time for the ZX14 2012

The former ZX-10R were rated at 184 hp so 200hp is not out of the question...I mean the technology is here for it...whether it has 200 at the crank or with ram air will be known soon enough....

Nobody will know anything about the power comparison between the BMW and the Kwak until they are put on the same dyno. Otherwise all of this is just speculation and talking out the brown hole.
History shows us that Kwak when they put their mind to it usually one ups the horsepower war.

They will not be on top yet in this comparison unless you are talking $ for $. It will give it a run for its money but I think the BMW is still on top for now. If Honda, yami or Zook would have done this Kaw would have come out on top this year guarunteed.

Evidently he didnt know how to ride, he easily could have made you swallow your pride and left you looking like a fool! I have a zx14 and love my 14 but the facts are there...I read all these comments "ohhh those BMW's arnt shit compared to my 14!" well the bad news is your sadly mistaken. My buddy has a BMW that he purchased this summer that is bone stock. The day after he bought it we did a couple of 2nd gear roll ons (being the beemer is stock length doesnt stand a chance against my +6in 14 in a first gear roll on) at the first inital snap of the throttles i jumped on him 4 bike lengths, after i hit the button to shift to 3rd he was beside me and gone like i was on a 600 compared to a litre bike! So we switched, ending result is exactly the same. The bike is very impressive.
So at the dragstrip this is what happens...You pull a 1.3-1.4 60 foot and get a jump on it and some chump on a stretched, and Brocked out BMW comes by you at the 1/8 mile like your on the rev limiter and you lost! end of story.
I hope this ZX10 is for real but if it can match the BMW? time will tell. Im a kawi guy and always have been. So lets hope they built someting that can go toe to toe with the BMW without a turbo or nitrous.
Ohh for all the ones who think im full of shit and making up stories heres his bike sitting behind mine in the backyard.

I'm sure the BMW is fast .. But let me paint you a picture .. You run 9.20s correct ? I run 8.70s and that is a half of a second faster than you ..If i did a roll on race with your friend what do you think would happen ? My bet he would not be along side me in 3 gear .. He may coming blowing by me in 5th or 6th gear ..Maybe .... I'm with you , i hope this new zx10 is up to the task to run with or beat the BMW .. Mostlikey they will be real close and it will come down to the rider .. Now we need an upgrade on the zx14, Maybe 2012 ? God i hope so ..

Smokin im not at sea level up here in Pa we race basically in the valley of three mountains. I dont know what the altitude is there but its up there. ive talked to 3 different guys who run at MIR that came up here and say they run 3 tenths quicker at MIR. yea you still got me but it does even it a bit closer, and realistically where your getting me is in the first 60ft which means nothing in a second gear roll on. fact is we both raced switched bikes and same results, hes ridden my 14 before it was the first time i put my leg over that bmw. Have you ridden on one yet smokin? We are lowering, putting either a +8 or +12 Mac arm under it, and full brocks shortmeg and pc5 this winter, kinda anctious to see what it does

Anyone notice that it has multimode traction control and "Race" ABS?
More significant than absolute BHP, headlight shape etc.
They're all going this way now, and not before time.

I don't know what your buddy weights with the BMW but Brock weights right at 200 .. He was been riding his tricked out BMW and has got down to 8.88 last time i checked .. He had a few 8.90s passes .. Brocks BMW as you know has all the goodys like BST wheels ect ect and is running mr12 fuel. The track he races at is a pretty fast track in Ohio .. That should give you an idea what your buddys BMW might run ..

weve done 1st gear and hes way back there then seems to keep the same distance. As soon as he hits the power zone in first the front end stands up. The BMW is just like any other 1000 it needs to be in that high rpm zone to make the power

WOW!
Great link!

197 HP, 207 HP with ram air!
130 pounds lighter than the 14?

Anyone believe this?

Let's see if I can make this easy on the copy-and-paste challenged.

Actually it is a 13,500 rpm red line. Who knows were the rev limiter kicks in. Most likely at 14ish.
BMW used RPM to get the extra hp. Kawasaki is using a different approach. This should be interesting to see the actual dyno charts.

I was going by the picture of the tach and it show over 14k ... But we all know the Tach is far from what is really going on .. I was just busting steves balls with my 14,300 red line statement ..
