It has been winter and things will pick up once people start riding again.

TedG,

There is a problem with some Ninjas; the models (any model) where the fuel tank will not whistle when sitting or after a ride, has an air fuel leakage. The tank is not pressurizing.
When this occurs, the tank will not run as fast as one that does. I learn this a while back with my 00 zx12 in Hawaii. I could out them the non Cali tank equipt zx12 up to the 1/8 mile, then it's like the fuel stop flowing. Regardless of the numbers in the fuel maps. It doesn't do it on the dyno, only on the street.

To correct this problem, add the seperator and a Cali tank; the seperator connects to the throttle bodies and the tank..... Don't ask me how it works, but it does.... On my 05 zx10 same issue, found a tank did the mod, the tank whistled and the bike went from 9:7ish@138 to 9:5ish@143.

So far I have gone 9:55@137 on the 08; trying to locate a tank to correct the problem, the should run 9:3ish@ 145 or so

That is interesting, it seems odd that would have any effect. The tank isn't pressurized, it is in a partial vacuum. The hissing is sucking air in. The evap system is trying to take the fumes in the tank and use them. If this makes a difference you are running too lean and you need to adjust your fuel, not depend on fumes in the tank.

Contrary to your view, it works the opposite, the hissing is pressure being released via the orifice in the locking mechnizim; if you open your fuel cap, you will see a small pin hole. This is where the pressure relief occurs.

I know it works, and something I have done several times. I learned of it in 2001, used this concept in 05, now in 08. You will see..... i'll post to number for you, both tickets.......

if your tank hisses, then you are good, prime example, I hurt my 07 zx10 pistion, because the tank stopped hissing, don't ask me why, it's beening doing it for, forever... one day it stopped and I hurt a piston, now it back to hissing. I am looking for an 04-07 zx10 tank aswell. minor dents don't matter... if you know anyone please direct them myway..

I could be wrong, but there is nothing to pressurize the tank. it uses vacuum. The only way it can pressurize is just the expanding gasses in the tank itself. And if you need that, just seal off the vents. Problem with that is just the fuel being used will cause a vacuum.
I have removed the evap stuff and plugged off the extra vent and duplicated the 48 state hosing. Not saying that it is better....just lighter and less stuff.

And it could be that the vacuum is decreasing the fuel pressure and making it run leaner, which means your mixture is too rich. Or if it is pressurizing the tank it is making it run richer, One way or another you need to vent the tank normally and get the mixture right.

TedG,

Just as the internal fuel tank pressurize your tank and assist in forcing the fuel pressure. I need the same thing to happen, when I use the Cali tank and connect it to the 1/4 pressure side of the throttle bodies, the bike performs better. Like I told you previously I pick up 2 tenths in the qtr and gain an avg of 4 to 5 mph.

You are entitle to what you feel is correct and that's great..... we learn from discussions, however I have proven this time and time again to work for my applications....
Thanks for the objective thoughts

And I am not saying you are wrong. All I am saying is you need to determine what is happening and not depend on an unknown pressure. Because the weather could work against you. I am just having a hard time understanding where the positive pressure comes from.

I know exactly what's happening, the tank won't pressurize and to combat the non pressuirzation of the fuel tank, I have found the Cali model tank pressurize when connected to the throttle bodies. The differences of both tanks equal to about 2 tenths.

Like I mentioned in previous post, it doesn't matter what number you place in the map cell, it will not richen the bike....

it's okay to agree to disagree.... I have expirenced this several times and this is the fix action. You have not encountered this nor have you provided any solution to anyone....
Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it doesn't work.....

I am not disagreeing with you. I truly believe that you get a couple of tenths. No argument from me. I am just asking how it is possible to get positive pressure from a vacuum. I am missing something and asking a question.
As for solutions you are right I am offering none and my only thought is understanding, and suggesting adjusting something that is more consistent. You are taking it the wrong way.
