My favourite 10R is still the 2007 special edition… this one looks to me like a R1 from the side!

I am very disappointed that they did not launch a new 14 this year (5 years without a major overhaul, what's with that)… But rumour has it that for 2011 the ZX14R will be Super Charged!

The improvements on the Connie are VERY compelling. I think I might just upgrade. Wonder if my exhaust is transferrable....

Man, I am jealous of the 2010 concours, they have heated grips, better windshield, better fairing to keep the heat away on those hot days (though on cold days you get a free heater), different storage comartment.... I could care less about the fuel saver mode, power is what I use, and I use it a lot....
Price took a big hike, 15k non abs.... I wander if anything is retrofittable? There were rumors that it was going to have a heads up display, but it didn't happen yet, supposedly the frame was changed... Hmmmmmmmm...
The only thing I do not like is you only get one fob....

Wonder what the optional stuff looks like.
Side spoilers, engine guards sound intriguing.
Fuel economy means more saddle time touring.
Traction Control!!!! Heated grips Better shield!!!
Sounds fabulous for rainy old Western Wa. !!! I want I want!!!

Did a mondo powerslide today pulling away from a stop today on the 14 with just a crack of the throttle. heavy mist, 45 degrees, I want one bad!
Be surprised if there isnt one in my garage next spring!

Wander what honda is going to price their not yet complete vfr? 1 fob is not good, lesss heat, well depends on the time of year and where you live, heat can be a good thing sometimes.

I have been lucky lately, my 2000 busa felt weak to me, the 14 pulls better in the rpm range I ride with flies out. I absolutly love 100 ft lbs of torque at 4k! Handling is great, I feel more confident cornining in the c14 than the busa, it just has that stick to the road feel, which might be weight related, Brkes kick ass, I thought the 12 piston caliper on the front of the busa was the best design, but these are better.

The bike I had inbetween the busa and the c-14 was the zrx-1200r, that was a strong running bike, but the c14 handles better, has more power too, not that I didnt like the zrx, but for my 5'8" body it was a little sretch, but much better than the zook, the naked bike susuki had at the time. I do not wanna lean over, and I do not have to on the c-14. It can take almost anything on the road, and with comfort to boot.

My last note is that the bike mfr's need to learn from cars, bikes are a decade behind, and that should not be..... It would be wayyyyyyyyyyy easier to implement these things on a bike, especially direct injection, would eliminate all intake deposits forever. Drive by wire is a joke, will never have the response of cable, well maybe never....

Slow speed manuvering on the c14 is an issue, do not try to steer it, or force it, just lean... I live atop a big mountain and the road down is all slow speed twisties, it does not like to be commanded as to turning, just lean into the curve and the bike will do what you want it to do, seems to me if you force it it just does not wanna behave... get it up over 60 mph and she is ready to rock and roll....... loves high speed and feels like a sport bike above 100.

Long time ago I realised instinctively, that countersteeering will make any bike turn, geometry limits how well.
The big 500cc 2 stroke singles beg to be rear steered, and countering them to set the corner was and still is the only way to make that big crank and flywheel lay down.

I can make the 14 flick so hard that the rear tire leaves the ground....
I laugh at guys weaving their bikes by muscling them over, like they are steering a car! LOL

Someday, when I get new tires on the c-14 things will be different, the bike has bawls, more than any sport tourer needs in myopinion with flies out and mapped properly. It just plain flies, tires screaming front end in the air etc...

The '03 kx I have I got pretty cheap I know it neded work, and I finished it at at cost of 1k.
Things that were done was to have both forks rebuilt, rear shock, which had to be done 2x because someone screwed up the first time, new subframe, new rad valve, new pro circuit pipe and factory sound muffler. She is runing rich, so I went to boyesens web site and they reccomended dropping the 168 main to a 160, which I now have, just have to install it. It is a way different bike than the c-14, and actually has better power to weight ratio as well, not a good trail bike as the gearing is tall, and it is tall also, I am on my tip toes and trying to start her is a bitch, especialy when it sits for a while. I only Idle cold untill I feel heat on the cyl, then clean her out. Last plug check, and I run wot a lot revealed it was too rich, 2 strokes do not like it too rich. Inherently the big bore 2 strokes load up, probably due to the large crancase.... In either event the 500 is a monster, will push you to the limits, more power than brakes, first 3 gears mean nothing, just spinning, once you hit 4th or 5th then the front end comes right up, and you better be ready for the concequences. No 450 will drag it in a straight line, but a 450 will take it in a track due to better handling and more tractable power. If I was rich an mps kx500af would be my choice, but starting at 11k is not my budget...

I took that bike to my dads, who has 115 acres in sept. nobody ever wanted to be behind me, they would get hurt and they knew it. I can only ride it for 10 min's or so at a time as my wrists and arms hurt from holding on, it lays the smack down, and in a fassst way. The bike is a handfull, and now that I am older (42) I cannot extract it's handling potential, though I do know what you mean about rear steering, that bike likes to have the rear brake lose to take you into the next corner, or coroner. In this comparison it is street/vs dirt, not a real comparison, except I lov the 2 stroke hit, it is a beast, even the best mxers of the time could not harness all the power the kx makes...

Good night,
Rob

I like the chain adjuster on the Z1000. It's the same as my old '85 Ninja. It is so easy and quick to adjust the chain.

Fish: Great report. Thank you for putting it together.

z1000: Definitely looks better then the two previous generations. I doesn't have the immediate "wow" factor like the Ducati Streetfighter. But the Duc's ergonomics are a mess (bars far too forward, seat too high, clutch cover impacts the right foot), so I would not consider owning one. Maybe the 2010 Z1000's charms truly need to be seen in person.

Questions for you: With the switch to an aluminum frame, has the weight been reduced from the second generation Z1000? Is this truly an "all-new engine", or an over-bore of an existing engine? If new, why stop at 1043, and why not take it to 1100 or 1200? Has the rock-hard and forward-slanting seat of the second generation Z1000 been tossed? Did Kawasaki USA consider bringing in the updated ZRX1200R released in Japan last year?

ZX-10R: I realize this is a hold-over until the new 2011 model is introduced. There is not enough of a difference to justify the significant price increase, causing the 2009 models to look like bargains.

ZG1400: Well executed updates. The heat and the windscreen are the only two complaints I have on my 09 Red Connie, both of which are addressed on the '10.
