Back with a vengence(sort of)

I have read a few threads on here, I see there still some guys from 7 years ago! Bikeland, labusas, etc.

I decided to get back on 2 wheels again, my own two wheels that is. I have rode some, but finally gave in. I am picking up an 05 ZX-10 in the morning. Was waiting to save up for an 08 Busa, but just out of my cash-range.My crash a few years back turned me off-but it's been eating at me ever since to get back into it, although not as hard core.

Anyway, it's good to be back. I'm gonna need a mod list, since I like the strait line.

I picked the bike up last night. I definately under-estimated it.
It is stock gearing with a Yosh TR3 can.
You can hear the exhuast valve open and close when key is turned on or off, that's kinda weird, can that thing be oiled? Makes an annoying sound.

Bike is in good shape over all, just an issue with some fluid of some sort on the left side of the motor, right around the front sproket cover. Seller explained to me before I rode it home that a coolant line needed a new hose clamp, and would leave a drip on the floor after riding. I haven't pulled the side faring off yet, but it looked like oil to me at first, but it might be where the coolant/water is soaking the chain on the front sprocket, and what I am seeing is chain lube being washed down by the coolant?? Not sure what else to check, but I couldn't find any leaking hose visible with the faring still on,visible clamps looked/felt tight.

I just hope it's not the cases or something.

I guess I sould remove the secondary butterflies? Any hints/tips would be appreciated.

Naw...........leave the secondaries in. They open fast anyway and smooth out the throttle response. Find and fix the fluid leak, change the oil/filter, air filter and spark plugs, clean and adjust the chain, air up the tires, detail it and enjoy. HELL of a good bike.

I had to open it up last night on the way home from a 50 roll, shifltlight flashed 4 times , again, it kinda suprised me how hard it pulled with just a slip on. I'm gonna pull the left side off tonight and find the leak, already wiped the area dry, so I will idle it and see where it shows up.

I really like the color, you guys should see the HID's on that thing-I will try and get a pic of them tonight.

Update(not good). I

Last night, I pulled the left side faring off to find the source of the leak. It turned out to be oil. I pulled the hoses, water pump, then front sprocket, which was a pain in the azz, and found the source of the leak. Just in front and above the countershaft there is a glob of JB weld on the case, moist with oil..

I contacted the seller, which offered to take the bike back and exchange for the cash I gave him, as he seemed very surprised about the damage. I give him the benefit of the doubt, since he was the 2nd owner,

I really like this bike, it's the only color I want in a zx-10. I do not want a different color. Before I take the bike back, is there anyway to repair the case 100%? Or, is the only way to fix it replacing the cases, like I did on one of my ZX-12's.??

Man, I'm bummed out....

Don't settle, you deserve better. You've already had a crash, why risk another by a bike that might drip oil in front of the rear tire at an inopportuned moment. There is a reason it needed JB Weld.If you think you can get another set of cases cheap then perhaps the seller will reimburse for the extra cost.Too many other bikes out there,I agree with the punt.

I guess I need to change my avatar. Bike went back, seller declined to pay a portion for the cases,so I was reimbursed..

Haven't found another one yet, but still looking.

Oh, so now you're coming back under a new name with an attitude? Nice.
You're sentence is put together badly, but I think I've put the pieces together of what you're tying to say.

It isn't our fault you can't remember a password and lost your computer for 7 years. I was just stating what your profile said. I wasn't getting an attitude at all until you decided to be a smartass. Maybe there was a reason you vanished for 7 years... anger management?

Did the chain break the cases??

I wouldn't buy it..

The glue doesn't transfer heat, that is why it's leaking.. You can weld it, but you really need it apart for that..

Because I can.

I don't care either. Weird huh?

Man makes it clear he hasn't been on here for 7 years.
Another man just calmly states that his profile says he just joined. In other words, just curious to why it says that.
Man who created thread acts like a jackass and spouts off attitude.

That sums it up right there. Back to your regular scheduled programming....
