michelin 2ct versus stock perelli
I just replaced the stock perelli tires on the 08 10r and the new michelins, though I havnt had any chances to really try them out, are very lively. The difference is quite abit. The perellis are good tires, corner is consistant and I only spun them up a bit on corner exits. I was taking it easy coming home from the dealer but the bike sort of feels like it wants to fall into the turns but not quite. My daughters 636 would fall into turns and you would have to gas it to keep it from falling, the michelins sort of feel like that but when you want the bike not to go over anymore it does it without needing gas to make that happen. In other words the steering is way lighter feeling. I bet if the bike had of come stock with Michelins, even not 2cts that the track results might have put the 10 even father ahead. Bump absorption is better I thought from the seat of the pants. Not a lot but a bit smoother. Just giving my 2 cents worth. I got a flat last week and no one carries perellis so decided to change both tires. I wont know the true difference until I get a chance to scrub them in, this will probably be the last weekend to ride anywhere fast as its getting colder. Wrote it in case anyone was wondering what the diffence might be.

I have had nothing but good luck with Michelin tires. I especially like the 2ct.

The difference in the cornering is clear with the 2cts. The perellis would slide and the michelins are not. If we had a track local I could find out how hard I could push them but we dont and sliding around on the street is not safe at all. We only have a few tight turns here where I live. My friend came over the other day and we were discussing tires and cornering and contact patches. I still had 1/4 inch left to scrub on the new tires as there was no where I went last weekend that had any corners to talk about. I decided to finish off the chicken strip right after he left. The local police come to my business and have asked me before where I can go to corner fast enough to get over that far....hehe. I say, there are places....They smile. Have couple of good guys in town. They knew of one fellow who was wheeling a lot in town so instead of busting him they told him, stop wheeling in town. He did. How it should be. They did not have to arrest him or hassle him or take his license, just let him know they know. He stopped and thats all they wanted. They did not say dont wheely anywhere else just not in town. sorry got off thread. I like the new tires, they stick very well, very confidence inspiring.

2CTs for me and nothing else for the street.
I've never ran street tires on a track. But next track day I'm trying the 2CT's and no tire warmers rather than swap to POWER RACE tires, dunno what I'll think about that but as long as I'm easy first few laps I think I'll be fine.

I dont know why you all ride street tires on the track and track tires on the street......makes no sense to me.......I know, its easier than changing them back and forth.....get a dedicated track bike.
Sorry.....I see more guys out here on the track try to go fast and street tires just arent good when you are at the edge of them, 2CT or not.

I agree, I run power race medium compound on the FL tracks. but one time i want to run the street tires, haven't ever tried such.
a pro road the Michelin 2 CTs against his power race and only came in a few seconds slower lap times on the street tires. maybe I'll search and dig up that article.
dedicated track bike? my 2003 Honda was getting elderly and had to go. I'm twitching for another track bike though. Next deal I see on a set up 600RR, R6, or Triumph 675 I'm nabbing it. Until then, I'll poke around the track very carefully on my street bike and enjoy a few tracks days.
