sprockets and hdden horsepower?
i have an 06 zx10r. just got it customized. 4.5 extended swing, 250 Avon rear tire, 40 tooth rear sprocket, 530 chain, dynojet power commander 3. was thinking of going to a 43 tooth in the rear but someone at a bike show told be to go down one in the front for better results. Can anyone clear this confusion up for me or shoot me some other tips that might work. thanks for any possitive feedback.

It is better to go up in the rear if its just gonna be a minor change , because shrinking in the front makes the chain wear faster.
I have a 05 zx10r extended 6 over ,
i weight 260 so i went down 2 in the front and went up 3 in the rear so i could get my bike in the high 9s with me on it. It went 9:15 with a 130 pound rider.
But when i ride the streets i leave just the 3 up in rear and run stock up front . If i left like that my speedo would read 90 and cars would pass me on the high way and i would be turning 6000 rpms cruising down the high way.

1 down in the front is the same as three in the rear up , so it would be the same results .is what ive always been told

my main goal is to gain some of the low end back i had when it was stock. it just seems kinda sluggish now and i want to take off like a missle off the line. thanks for the info.

install a Z1000 OEM 16t and be done. less expensive and less work that replacing the rear.
