I understand you wish to deflect the topic at hand - I'm good with my own life, wouldn't want it any different! I'm having way too much fun to live it through others. Anyway-

Back on topic, where was team Kawasaki? I didn't expect a response in this forum, but I do suspect the ZX10 will do better going forward.

Ducati dominated MotoGP last year, now they are stomping on the litre bike class..... their sales for '07 through the roof....I never thought I'd see the day!

+1

The Duc is certainly appealing. Just as I talked my self out of a 1098 for this year Ducati rolls out the 848 and offer it in white. As far as superbike goes I suspect it'll out-handle and out-perform the 1098 in everything except a straight line and I have my eye on one.

yeah Steve Kawi has dropped the ball this year with rider choice I think. Because you can't tell me that the factory supported PSG team can be out performed by the customer Pederchini Kawi team... who in turn buy their bikes prepared from PSG. Tamada and Laconi are over the hill for sure.

Keep in mind tho that throughout qualifying the Ten Kate Hondas (that team kicks ass) with shit hot riders barely got more that 2 places ahead of the kawis hey! So both the 08 n00b bikes aren't kicking ass out the box.

Checa did a great job in race one to get that high up but then was nowhere in race 2 and Sofuoglu I thought would be fast straight out the box... but wasn't very impressive. Mind you, I think that both Kawi and Honda are running 'almost' straight out of the box bikes. Ten Kate I know do this everytime they get a new bike... they start at a point with an almost stock bike, then develop the shit out of it from their. I think Kawi is doing the same. Although Kawi are handicapped with older riders that have lost that youthful spark and enthusiasm!!!

Yami and suzuki have got such well developed bikes at the mo but look how they even struggled in the race with tyres. They're having to push so friggen hard that they just ruin their tyres by half way!!! I think the Dukes hold a bit on an advantage in that they less restricted but with higher weight and they don't seem to use their tyres up as much. Maybe cos they are vtwins, I don't know... but I think the rules will be adjusted as the races progress to try keep the field even.

Qatar is a terrible track, if you've ever tried to play it on Playstation or PC you'll know what I mean. All the turns look the same and there is no character to the track. I think that the guys who are going to be influencial in the championship this year did not perform well there. The championship this year will go to either Bayliss, Haga or Checa even. But I think Bayliss.

Ten Kate is such a good team hey and they are so good at building a kick ass race bike. I don't think that PSG can compete with them. Sad I know., maybe next season with better riders too. This is PSG's first year being factory supported so time will tell.

No steve actually you didn't... you clearly said that we don't want to compare race bikes or modded bikes... ONLY STOCK BIKES.

We all know that team and riders make more difference than the bikes. I mean come on!!! last year Toseland won the championship on an 'inferior' CBR1000 RR ... how is this possible??? Ten Kate make incredible race bikes... better than PSG ever could... so don't come with this blade STOMPING on the zx10 crap again please.

This is racing and the best TEAM wins...

As much as I want to write off the underperformance of the Kawasaki as a "TEAM" or rider phemonena, I think there is some merit in Steve's argument.

Suzuki was able to get their K7 and K8 platforms up to speed in a hurry. This latest iteration of the ZX10 has me baffled. Even factoring in the time required to develop a full on racebike, you have to admit that if there was anything gained from the ground up redraw of the 10 as a racing platform, it's incremental at best. They're certainly not going to leapfrog and dominate the competition a la Ducati in motogp.

I am impressed but not surprised by Nieto's win. It was really unfortunate that Kawasaki couldn't hang onto him. He clearly has the ability to win, but I think the Kawasaki he was on last year just wasn't good enough.

Honda brought out a brand new litre bike to the superbike event to. And the announcers noted Honda's good performance and decent finish for an untested bike.

Kawasaki held every last place position - and is now ranked last 5 in the superbike standings.

I have never doubted the Kawasaki as the king of the straight line, but have long suspected we shouldn't expect much as far as a superbike.

I do bet team Kawasaki will improve performance with the ZX10 going forward, but for you ultra-brand loyal closeminded folks.....don't say i didn't tell you so!

Honda at least placed on the untested redesigned Blade (kawi placed last all races) - lets look at prior year Superbike champions and see if you notice any team "missing"

World Superbike Champions 1988-2005

1988 Fred Merkel, Honda
1989 Fred Merkel, Honda
1990 Raymond Roche, Ducati
1991 Doug Polen, Ducati
1992 Doug Polen, Ducati
1993 Scott Russell, Kawasaki
1994 Carl Fogarty, Ducati
1995 Carl Fogarty, Ducati
1996 Troy Corser, Ducati
1997 John Kocinski, Honda
1998 Carl Fogarty, Ducati
1999 Carl Fogarty, Ducati
2000 Colin Edwards Honda
2001 Troy Bayliss, Ducati
2002 Colin Edwards, Honda
2003 Neil Hodgson, Ducati
2004 James Toseland, Ducati
2005 Troy Corser, Suzuki

Its all good

I never said the Zx10 is piss poor, and my old ZX9R is the bike I've liked better than any brand/model thats been in the stable.

Nor do I take this anymore serious, but each year I do like to see who is on top regarding performance and sales numbers. Between you and I, I've been wondering which brand would finally dethrone the gixxer, its been on top for so long now regarding the out of box litre bikes.

And by the way, there'll be another ZX10 in my future too.

In the top 10, at the BOTTOM.

Kawasaki in the top 15.

Wow, what a HUGE difference

Honda was the most ugly bike on the track.
