Steve......and anyone else who may care.
Think of it this way.....My 05 10R makes 174 at the rear with stock pistons and very little else done. Different cam and a cleaned up head, pipe yada yada yada.. WHY on earth do yu think it's impossible for Kawasaki to get 170 out of one? Hell they could do more than that if they didn't have to stand behind the thing to not blow up..
It's very possible......

ok I'll pull this thread up after many here have purchased and dyno'd '08s, and some of the reliable mags and exhaust manufacturers have posted the real numbers.
I know what the stock ZX14 does and I suspect you all do too. Do you think the stock 10 does more?
sure 174 with the fuel emissions off, air box, exhaust, and a remap will get 174.
ok check this out, do you truly think the new ZX10 is going to dyno at 170? or you guys are so pro kawi you're close minded to realistic numbers and the fact that some other brands may make a decent bike too?

If 06-10 was doing 164~ rwhp why on earth 08-10 can't show ~6rwhp more, especially if you look at many changes that were made to engine? (compression ratio increased from 12.7 to 12.9 , secondary injectors added, reshaped intake ports, and so on and so on ??) You can get even more than 6rwhp from those changes.

compression was changed to make up for all the extra euro fuel emissions if you read the Kawi claims. Also thats why the bike doesn't weigh even less than it does according to Kawi.

No, it was not , because 06/07 ZX10R already had EURO3 emissions (the same as in 08ZX10R), so nothing new there.
You did not believe any official numbers i told you before, now you do not believe dyno numbers posted, and you probably won't believe other dyno numbers you will see from different exhaust manufacturers, etc (and they will be high too)...but this is your problem if you are blind  Not kawis

One thing is total HP makes a bike nor care about "PEAK" anyway. Also, the quarter-mile isn't an interest. Streetability and the race track is where my heart is, and I want to see which bike gets best overall in the shootouts.
I suspect Kawi will win in HP for '08, and lose is braking, corner speed, suspension, and all the things that keep it from "top sportbike" in the shootouts every year.
I may be so wrong too. If I'm wrong and it is THE BIKE, I may have one in my garage at the end of '08.
I only ride litre bikes for a year or so, and the one I have is only because I never owned the brand.
Between you and I, on the track/street for '07 the bikes were all so equal that rider skills are about the only difference. But I think Honda will chnage that in '08 and in about a year from now when I start shopping for bikes it may be the one?

Well, 04 05 and probably 06? ZX10R won Master bike ShootOut, so i don't know what you are talking about.....its the shootout of shootouts, it can't be more better than that... so zx10 was always THE sportbike, and only K7 gixxer managed to get ahead little bit.
Honda and R1 were always behind it (them).

Man believe that masters is the master of all shootouts and the ZX10 has been superior to the gixxer for the past 6 years and such ROFL
I truly thought Kawi's low sales in comparison to the others is proof positive they need to do more for their brand following, but wow I'm doubting myself!!!
And I have nothing against Kawi. Had many Kawi's. Until a few months ago had one in the garage, may have another

I tell ya Lyle I just don't understand Steve here.. What made the damn zx14 the bench mark for horsepower? All this BS about NO ZX14 has made that much so there's NO WAY anything else can is nothing short of CRAZY!! STEVE!!!!.............Wake up my friend and realize that you are being very silly and close minded here. You and Fish EARLY picked and backed a LAME HORSE in that UGLY ass Honda.. The only difference is Fish is trying to distance himself from those statements and you are continuing to pull dirt in on top of your own grave...GIVE IT UP Steve.....
