Are we're supposed to say "Kawi and only Kawi makes the best litre bike, and they make the best one every year" and "no clue why the others even bother to make litre bikes, they are inferior every year"

Thats just not realistic!

lmao... Someone call HONDA, Yami, Suzuki and tell them to quit bothering with competition. Its just no use, they can't succeed.

In reality, how good could one expect any brand(s) bike to be if it wasn't for fierce competiton and those of us demanding to see the true pure performance year after year.

yea you have derailled and lost the path of truth....you were ZX-10R enlightened yet have tripped and stumbled back into darkness...

Honda is not going to be quicker around the track...
certainly not on this new bike... wait all ya want.. Not happening steve...

Kawasaki swept in track times in the liter division "as delivered" in 2004 and has all it's cannons lined up to repeat history...

Hondas are safe and have a nice finish..thats all... ...

Why did you get a Yamaha anyways....??

Truthfully? I never owned a Yamaha litre bike, and have all the others. And the litre bikes are so close the experts and amateurs are getting track times within fractions of a second of each other when they ride each bike. But I expect for '08 Honda is going to change that, they should be on the market soon and we'll see on the head to head comparisons.

Hondas are safe and have a nice finish..thats all... <---were you asleep in '07 since HONDA dominated the 600 class by FAR? And Kawi fell in last place???

I suspect overall Kawi may win the drag race with some force, but braking distance, corner speeds, and best lap times when compared I suspect Honda for '08 by a measurable margin.

And again I may be wrong!

For all practical worth and value as I see it it will be close...Just messing steve...

I will say that pesonally I never cared for the 600 class myself..... they are quite impressive for a 600cc .. just would never buy one.. not while I can own a lightweight literbike like my 04 ZX-10R...375 lbs dry weight...mondo power to go with..it's a keeper..

I doubt Honda will dominate on a first generation revamped specimen...I have more faith Kawasaki will dominate with proven engineering.....be it by small margins .. like it did in the 2004 Cycle world sportbike shootout againt just about every sport production bike made in the world .. Jap or Italian..

the ZX-10R held it's ground.in that comparison test ...rider can upset the little margin it won by fer sure...Honda concievably could suprise us in liter division.... I just seriously doubt it...

have fun...enjoy your new bike...

So this is the thread I was supposed to stop by and check out :0)
Fun stuff!
I am going to get Sam with the ZX10 and direct him to this thread. Hehe!

... and I have a deposit on the new 08 GSXR. Just waiting for it to arrive. I am not brand loyal. 13:1 compression on the 10 did sound VERY tasty but I fell in love with the all black GSXR, with the black M4 GP pipe, and black levers and rear sets. Yummy, I can taste it. Why is it taking so long for the other colors to arrive? Blue and white has been in stores for a while now.

'13:1 compression on the 10 did sound VERY tasty" <---I suspect it may be king of the straightline, but I think Honda will take 2008 when it comes to overall performance.

13:1 sould take over the top spot in HP. Just my quess. The Gixxer has the best EFI on the market now since they went to a closed loop system with an O2 sensor but.... does anyone know if the 08 ZX10 has an O2 sensor or a hydraulic clutch? Those are 2 major things that I love about the Suzuki.

2 lbs lighter cranckshaft, all new tranny, and new valvetrain, new hand ported head all sounds really Yummy to me!

Its going to be a nasty little bitch.

Losing that much rotating weight off the crank is a tremendous acheivement, and creates a SUPER responsive engine!

I have ran light and heavy flywheels on dirtbikes, and I can tell you... 2 lbs is retarded!
It'll RIP!

you thought the old zx10 liked to wheelie and spin the tire at the same time....
well they HAD to give the 08 traction control, or it would have been ABSOLUTELY STUPID.

I can't wait and want to disable it!
Bahaahahahaa

Finally it seems they have made the dirtbike for street i have been dreaming of!

When it comes to dominating race tracks in 2008 I still suspect Honda will be on top.

Cycle world printed Kawi's excuse for the lack of O2 sensor, but thats ok. No 02 so no wide band power comander option, real time air to fuel ratio adjustments or data tracking? (as we discussed for the Gixxer and Yami last night Tony).

But what I find most amazing is no mention of a slipper clutch? Am I just missing it? I even looked at the ZX10 specs on Kawi's page and there is no mention? Am I losing it here or does it not have one? In this day and age I can't beleive a track bike doesn't have one. Plus I don't feel Kawi would cut corners on the clutch when other makers put race clutch technology in '07? Honda was slack and behind in race track technology in '07 but for '08 the CBR1000RR features a cable slipper clutch.

The thing about Kawasaki litre bikes is they're known for being the bomb in the straight line. The magazine pointed out it was Kawi's biggest focus to correct this regarding improvements for '08. So we'll see what Kawi does when the shootouts begin !!!

Is red line really only 13K? Did they mean to do the front turn signals that way?

Again I'm not brand loyal, proof being two brands in my garage right now and a 3rd brand that just left

"Is red line really only 13K? "
13:1 comprssion may be the reason for that Steve.

"2 lbs lighter cranckshaft"
Fuck me.... 13:1 and now this. This bike will haul some ass no doubt!

Thanks. I know the HP will be up up up thats a given for a Kawi whether they ream RPMs from it or not

And I'm sure it'll haul ass in a straight, absolutely no question. But lets see overall performance/manageability. With no slipper clutch can we expect to go into turns as hot with higher RPMs or slow down ahead of the others?

maybe its just a given now as with the wavy rotors.

04 had it, 06 had it... 08 will definitely have it. kawasaki's have always had some of the best stock slipper clutches on the market.

And as its been said, this bike was designed on the track first and then adapted to the road so its going to handle sooooooo sweetly as with the zx6 which focuses on unheard of stock corner speed.

I think with the indicators they didn't want to be the same as every other manufacturer that added them into the mirrors and rather tried to be different. I think the indicators look negligible and don't really care what they look like, and its definitely NOT a downside in my books. I like how 'easy' it sounds to lose the rear plate contraption and yet leaving the brake light for track days. The zx6 u guys got in the US was really handicapped in power compared to what we got here in South Africa and that made a HUGE difference in the shootouts. Hopefully that doesn't happen with the 10 cos I don't think the journalists have the ability to see past the emissions regulations.

Man I LOVE the side exhaust again!!!!! makes it so easy to just put on a slip on without still having major weight and cats... (donno where the cats are in 08 tho)

I think the hp will be right up there and the engine response will be insane with the crank talks too, but I think the handling is going to so sweet too. Paper and reality are way different so its going to be a tough one. I'm sure the blade is going to be sweet too and that honda break the rut of making an all purpose bike... very good in general. Suprised in the past they haven't made a great commuter/track bike/off road/touring bike before. :P

I agree with Gunner ; not exactly for the same reasons....but man ya got a ZX-14 with nitrous already...and it's holding together...leave it that way... you want it to last right?

The new 2008 ZX-10R will give you more satifaction and makes more sense....It's a happening bike...and won't blow up on ya....
