06-07 ZX10R Brakes and Handling

Been thinking about getting an 06-07 ZX10R march next year for street/trackdays/some CCS, but I've heard bad things about the brakes and rear shock. I saw the ZX14 brakes work well, haven't read up the rules on CCS for brake replacement in their stock classes.

I'm open to suggestions, an 04/05 10 would work as well but I'm worried about frame cracks in small get-offs. A while back there were issues of frames cracking without even crashes, did anything come of this? Proven false by government conpirators? Plus I recall riding a friend's ZX10 and the stock brakes were worse than my 12 which themselves didn't handle a trackday too well.

Also are there any problems with warped rotors, stock and/or aftermarket, that's another worry as I have the ability to warp the shit out of any brake I come into arms reach of the lever.

I'm not looking to put alot of money into modding the bike, with it being so expensive for tires alone, much less fees, crashes, etc... so any info from trackday riders and racers is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I've had about 4 getoffs on my 04/05 two being violent(one a highside). Frame straighten twice and never a crack. I have a 06/07 now and if you are going to race I would choose my bike on what track I will race at. If it's fast and flowing get the 06/07 because you can really stretch it out(long rear axle position) and still get it to turn. Although I still haven't matched my 04/05 lap times on the 06/07 I can tell It will be faster at Willow Springs but it will be hard to get it to be faster at California's AMA track. As far as brakes go, the 04/05 needs a new radial master but the 06/07 brakes are good. Both benefit greatly with some SBS carbon/carbon pads.

Great info, exactly what I was looking for. I recall my (street)ride on the 05 ZX10(Eric_The_Jew's old bike) and the handling was quick but felt flighty and nervous but I'm not too worried about that as it wasn't sorted, no damper and stock setting/tires. The track I plan on being the most is JenningsGP, a tight twisty, hardly-any-staightaway, bullring. I think I'm leaning more towards the 04-05 as it sounds to be more suited and would prolly be cheaper, saves abit for crashing/tires/etc...

Anything else? Further 04/05 suggestions/mods/adjustments? What radial master did you end up using? Would a ZX6 until work?

I use a 19mm Nissin Daytona I got from 1888fastlap.com. About $180 and as good as a brembo. I even put it on my 06/07 because it's better than the stock radial master. I have Bonaco make my brake line because they will make any line to your specs for about 3/4 the cost of Galfer. I use a 2.5mm diameter line, and they are out of Upland, Ca. The 04/05 is a great bike that I spent alot of time developing to my style and I will miss it alot. I think it will take alot of time(track days) to get the 06/07 comfortable. Anybike you choose to own after the fuel injection era started is a good bike, it's the rider that will make them great. So good luck.

Regarding the brakes on the 06 10R, I just switched out the lines to Galfer SS lines and flushed every champagne bubble out using Ate Super Blue Synthetic Brake Fluid and the brakes are exceptionally awesome in ever way! Brake lever is tight, brakes are precise, they are awesome!

So, how do those brakes work when you get on a race track with hard braking zone's?
