z1000

I just got my z1000, i was told the engine is based on an 04-05 zx10. If so can i pull the butterflies? Also how would i look and see if it even has the plates? I did see it has a butterfly in the exhaust. Any info or suggestions would be nice. thanks

The Z1000 engine is based on the older ZX-9R engine. Remove the airbox and look for plates.

check kawi part #'s to see if the cams are the same as a zx-10, if they are the same guaranteed, timing the cams will help power, manufactures are known to retard the exhaust timing (5-10 degree's) to tame power output.

Usually the naked bikes get less compression and retarded ignition and cam timing.
