steering on the 06 10r?
hey, i have a 10r 06 and find that the steering is different to all other bikes ive ridden.
haven't ridden many, cbr 600, zx6r 06, zzr 250, zx7r.
all those bikes lean into corner very easily and feel as tho you turn into corner, but on 10r you can lean into the corner, but actually push the handle bars the opposite way you want to go. eg push left bar forward and right bar towards you, to steer left, and vice versa.
is this like all new bikes or just the 10r.?
and do you like this about the 10r?

all bike do that even your bicycle you rode on as a kid. its called counter steering. this is how you should ride all two wheeled vehicles. push forward on the side you want to lean to. get on your pedal bike and try it

true to a extent, but really noticed it on the 10r.
the 06 6r just leans in with ease, but to get the 10r to do that you really have to push the handle bars, it likes to stay upright(i know its to do with the centre of gravity), which was changed on the 06 10r from the 05 10r
but the 06 6r would tend to fall over than stand up.
you seem to do this counter steering on all other bikes without really thinking about it, but not the 10r.
not saying thats its bad, i really like the 10r, i have one!, its just different.
too know what i mean go and ride a 7r, completely different front end.

"I see dumb people." This has got to be a fake post. That or I guess I haven't ran into a dumb biker for awhile.

whats so dumb about the post?
its a fair question. maybe you just dont notice the finer things of new bikes, like changes from previous models to current ones.:-)
the steering change was actually stated in mags when testing the 10r.!
i was just asking if all new litre bikes are like this.

hmmmmm counter steer is with any bike. the "10" in my opinion takes more work to put in and out of the corners, period. But, the raw hp , to me, makes up for the difference. you, coming off of 600 to 700 cc class it's a big difference. takes alot of getting used to ...for me early in works good. dont expect to "throw" this bike around ...totaly different ballgame in my book...yet i am NOT a proffesionhal rider either. but i love my 06' "10"... the bike does feel top heavy.....get the 1.5 inch engine drop mod , it will ,ake a big difference

I was referring to how it read like you never countersteered a bike before. I was like WTF!

I thought my 10 was tough to keep in down in a corner. It felt like my arms were trying to hold the bike down. I changed tires and noticed a nice improvement. If you are still on the stock Dunlops I suggest trying something else. I like the Conti's and the Michelin Pilot Powers. Different tire shapes affect the steering input required to turn-in and hold through corners.
Just my 2 cents.....

Phantom,
You are not crazy, nor dumb. I would expect that you are one of the riders that don't notice ths subtle differences from bike to bike. Not everyone can, and that's OK.
I came from a ZX7R to my 07 10R and there is a big difference. The 7Rs were front end heavy and low in order to keep the weight on the front tire for turning stability. IT WAS MADE TO TURN! The 10R, by comparison, has its weight higher (supposedly to improve changovers) and the fork angle is much different as well. However, I did notice that the first time I did a deep turn with the 10R, I turned like I was on my 7R and it ended up being too sharp! The steering geometry on the 10R is much better, to me.
IMHO, the 10R gives you more feedback in the turns than the 7R did. My experience with the 7R was that when you felt the front end start to slip, it was almost too late. With the 10R, I seem to get much more "feel" and I find it easier to make the small changes that are necessary.
Anyone else have the same thoughts?

I also agree with that now that I read his post. When I changed tires, turn in was a lot more quick.

Grease: i did notice the difference, between the zx7r and zx10r, thats what i am saying:-)
i do agree with you how the zx7r turns in really well, but i too like the way the 10r turns in.
better feel to the road, not as light, takes more control(better feedback) but once done correctly, is very rewarding and as you said can turn in very tighly.
thanks for your mature reply that actually answered my question, unlike some who just criticise :-)
