I can give you a full rundown prior to Christmas if you like, the rider I sponsored for the last two years is now a full factory Kawi boy and is testing the new 6R today and will be racing in Supersport next year as well as Superbike.

They will have last years race bike, a race spec 07 6R and a stock 07 6R for comparison and I will see him when he gets back just before Christmas hopefully for a report on how it all went and what its like.

This should give a real world view of the new bike without any influence on a result from outside sources with a direct comparison against the 05/06 bike.

Interested?

Hey FP10R,

Yes Definitely interested ! I hope the weather remains good for their test, I believe the test before Daytona was a washout....

The 10R in WSBK seems to be doing well, Third on the time sheets today....

Brief report on the test, had a phone call with the rider I sponsored for the last two years now a full kawi factory rider and he made the following comments on the new 07 6R.

Compared to the 06 race bike the new 07 is much easier to ride fast and within a few laps was equal to the fasted time on the 06 race bike, still awaiting parts so the 07 bike only had a shock, cartridges and a pipe on it nothing else and no engine development so far other than the factory ECU and kit loom.

At this time production on the new 07 is delayed approximately 2 weeks for engine mods from the factory including changes to the head and crank to increase the top end acceleration even further so it will be interesting to see how much of a change this makes.

Comments like the bike is very easy to ride fast and is far more stable than the 06 bike in the corners, with more work on the suspension and the new Controlled Orifice rear shock ( still to come ) and a better fork setting on top of some engine development the bike should be a real rocket in full race setup.

I expect he will be running at the pointy end of the field this season with a bit of luck, the Superbike is essentially the same as last year except for the new Ohlins CO shock so it will be interesting to see if this can tame 06 10R. If the 08 10R goes the same way as the new 6R in development or shadows the GP 800 development route time will only tell.

Hopefully the new CO shock will allow the 10R to perform better than last years as it is a real handfull with fundamantal chassis flaws that are extremely hard to tune out ,it is by far the most sensative of all the Superbikes to setup and ride fast for a full race.

If I was to give a tip on setup of your 10R spend some money and have the frame and swing arm jigged to factory spec, we have found more than 8mm + variation between frame sets and it makes it impossible to setup two bikes for comparison when testing setups at race meetings. Hopefully the new 600 is better in this area time will tell.

Have a safe New Year!

Thanks FP 10R !

Was also thinking that the prices for the other jap. liter bikes might have to come down a bit, due to the $19k Ducati 1098 ?
