16t sprocket installed, just finished a "test" ride!!!

All I gotta say is this..........HOLY SHIT BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!! That little 10 is hands down the most fun I've ever had on a street bike. That little engine just pulls like mad, and sounds wicked. Unbelievable that a $29 Z1000 sprocket, and an hour of my time would make such a difference.

I liked the bike when it was bone stock. But now with the Yoshimura, Scott's Damper, and this sprocket change.........that lil' biatch is off the chain!!!

I'm sure a lot of you guys have done this to your 10R's. Those who haven't, you need to.

I went to 15/41 gearing, and have a 43 in the parts bin, as well as a 39 (but need a shorter chain for that one...)

It takes first gear completely out of the picture for anything but starts. Not something you street riders want to do, but for the track, it saves you shifting through neutral. It also makes the chain drag on the swingarm a little. I still don't hit sixth gear on my home track...

I did have 16T counter in there for a while (16/41) and it was cool and all, lots o' wheelies. I keep the 16T with me in the parts bin in case I go to a "horsepower track", like THill (not very likely) or Willow Springs (much more likely).

I use -1 up front and +1 out back.. You'll need a longer chain to keep things under control. It will fit but the axle is completely forward.. It's fun and all but honest to god 130mph power wheelies are easy unless you go with a longer chain. It's amazing what adding an inch to inch and a half will do to calm the bitch down.

I run the same gearing Gunner, down one and up one. It works good for me on our local track and is a hoot, I left the chain alone and like the longer wheel base for the track, keeps the front more planted....lol

HDL when I had the stock chain with this combo my wheelbase was shortened completely up. The axle was all the way forward.. That's why I went to a new chain to add some lenth back to the wheelbase.. I don't understand yur reply about leaving the chain alone for longer wheelbase

It was way way fun with the wheel all the way forward I'll have to say.. AND for Rick and his love of BIG wheelies it would be a 24/7 smile on his face.

my chain was very stretched out...to the point of needing to be replaced....when I added the tooth on the back all it did was give me some adjustability back into the chain....I have since added a new chain and it was longer than the stocker. I could have shortened the new chain so the adjustment was all the way forward on the bike but I chose not to, leaving the wheelbase a bit longer...

sorry for the confusion...

NO problem.................My chain had 400 mile on it when I did all the changes.. It was not stretched at all.. BUT this bitch sure stretches them out now.. Constant adjustments are needed.. I don't see how these guys get by with a 520.. My bike would eat that.

When it comes to shit like chains I don't ever skimp. In fact I never skimp on anything that has to do with a motorcycle, BUT even at that my bike is eating it's chain. The problem I see with the 520 is the narrow sprockets. There's just not enough sprocket to carry the load and spread it out.. I don't think a 520 will ever see use on anything I own. Those extra couple of HP aren't wort the risk of a snapped chain. It's risk management..

What is the stock fr/r sprocket on the 10R? After having done the 14, I'm considering doing the 10 as well...is it the same as the 14 at 17/44?

I can't imagine running the bike geared any lower.........

Not that I don't think it wouldn't be fun, but I know how I have to ride mine now. Throttle modulation has never been so important. Fucking sick how that thing will moonshot with no warning in the upper gears, and at speeds that will give most traffic cops an ulser.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

the 04,5 10's are 17/39 and the 06,7's are 17/40...............and just for interest sake a 04,5 10 can still hit a true 178-79mph with 16/39.
