SOME Help ... Im swapping my 06 ZX10 for a 05 ZX10 ...
Guys ..... please please give me some Straight Scoop ..... I have 4500 Miles on my 06. I just put it up for Sale ($8600) so I can replace it with the 05.
Feedback regarding the two bikes from folks who have actually ridden both ?
Feedback on 05 reliablity ??
Feedback on 05 Confort ?? Feels Like the OLD R1 to me ?
I also have a 06 CBR1000RR Black with 1400 miles. I love the bike but it just doent hold a stick to the ZX10 in the way of Power. I hoping for ZX10R POWER with CBR Handling ...... I will sooooooo HAPPY if the 05 fits the bill

Love my 05', it just plain kicks ass and is gnarly. Glad I didn't look to the 06's as people have said it is too tame. Kinda like comparing my 00' ZX12 to an 02' or later model. I had a fella tell me the 06' 10R has been Hondaized. That's bad.

04 and 05 ZX-10R have the same ergonomics..top notch for a modern 1000cc sport bike ..cruising or romping hard all in great comfort for such a hard core sport bike.....
I'd probably have kept the 06 and just gotten rear seats and heli bars as the differences are not so big I don't think...06 puts out the power as well...can gear down to feel it more I would think...but you the customer.. your money..Id consider trading in the Honda instead...if it's lower on power that is...
Must be nice to have all that money...

FYI ... I still have the 06 and just put in paper.
Regarding Honda .... I also own a Black 06 CBR1000RR .... Feels Small and Turns Great ...Power is lacking !!
Regarding rearsets .... got the drop brackets made
Regarding heli ... they suck on the 06 .... the stock bars can go up and out 1/4 by swapping bolts..... works perfectly
The biggest complint i have hence the swap is the bike seems Low, Long and takes Way to much Input on the bars in Traffic.... meaning turns like a truck under 50MPH so sucks for commuting
Regarding power ..... i have run side by side with the 05 and they are almost Identical .... the rest is just Bullshit ... makes no diff to me sence I can have either. The POWER is SICK SICK SMOOTH AND SICK ... I hit 50MPH wack throttle and she power wheelies through 2nd to 110 everytime if I have the room. SICK !!
My 06 CBR1000RR takes 2 Gears (1 & 2) to stay with the 1st Gear of the ZX10.
Another point regarding power .... I have a 06 CBR1000RR and the ZX10 kills it. I go under BROBIN01 on www.1000rr.com .... go check it out .... I compare my 06 ZX10 against my 06 CBR1000RR .... those dumb shits actually believe the CBR compares to the ZX10 in the way of POWER, SPEED, Quickness, Gearing and so on..

I have ridden the 06 extensively and own an 05. Power delivery on the 06 is much smoother and starts lower down...but the 05 is crazy wild for throttle twisting...ergos way better too...much less heat kicking at the rider from the rad on the left side too. Overall, I prefer the 05 to the 06 any day of the week. There's not one single thing I prefer on the 06...don't mean to piss anyone owning an 06 off, but that's the way I feel.

no full system on the 06 ..... Im looking for $8600 and its perfect condition with Carbon Fiber Kawi Decal kit along with seat cowl and new rear tire..... Im betting it wont last a month.
Im looking for the Grey 05 with Low Miles.
Which Pipe is the best on the 05 ? That will help me narrow my selection down
Thanks

I have an AKA but if I were to buy another it would probably be a TiForce.. It seems to be a good pipe for the 10R.

There is something profoundly and fundamentally WRONG with the chassis geometry on the 04/05. Kawi sawed the front end off and welded back on to fix it for their Superstock effort, and even that wasn't enough. No, keep the 06. It may be heavier and butt ugly, but it can't possibly be as inherently flawed as the first generation. The tach is also marginally better, though still the illegitimate anal sex offspring of some silly little bike nite punk ass bitch.

hmmm ... do you have a 06 ?? The DAMN Front was hacked off but then RAKED out like a @#$@#$ chopper. You can Feel the Rake in the Bars by the amount of Input Required a Low speeds in traffic. It just plain sucks even though the Bike ROCKS over 50. I put on over 1K per month for 4 months so you can see that i ride the shit out of it.
Guys .. does the 05 feel like the 98-01 R1 in erogo's ?? That the feel I get from sitting on it but I havent ridden one. Also, does it stumble/flat under 3K like the CBR ... the CBR sucks in traffic.
I run in traffic 50% of the time in traffic and hammer down the other 50% of the time. I have the 06 CBR1000 and looking for the 04-05 ZX10 to replace my 06 ZX10. Now ..... I will use them both side by side to Split the Miles .... so Both will see the Traffic and Hammer down.
Thank you again .... it is Grealy Apreciated !

I never rode the earlier R1's, though I have an 05, but the 05 10R is a very neutral handling bike, which is one of the things I love about it. Ergo's -- about as comfortable as one can get on a 1000 bike...I do 500 mile+ days with no issue at all. Doesn't stumble at any speed, although she's not known to have much grunt below 4K...but it gets wild at 5K and up, more so than any ride I have now. She also runs cool in traffic (reasonably), not as cool as a K5/6, but very nice, nicer than my 14 and the R1, we won't talk about that fucking nut roaster.
FYI...I do 4K+ a month on these bikes for 5-7 months...so this isn't based on a few hours of riding them. I said it before and I'll say it again, I much prefer the 05 and down to the 06.

Just from what I've heard and read, I wouldn't even look at an 06, before a 04/ 05 zx10

Why don't you just buy a set of adjustable tripple trees from Attack and fix the rake situation?

Not to even mention the ergo's but, that's very subjective depending on the rider...however, I'm 6'2" at 210 and I hated the ergo's on the 06...couldn't see myself riding it for 8 hours+ a day. Heat was a big issue too, on the lower left while riding fast or slow.

If power is your concern then stick with the 06; last Sunday on the track there was another rider there with a 05 (pipe, pc3, custom mapping) and apparently he's very happy with the solid power gains he's had with his setup, but...according to him, my stock 06 "dropped" him on the straights, and my bike is still dead stock.
I've owned the 05 and loved it; but it is truly a different bike from the 06. I've also owned the Gixxer and here is my 2c:
- If you want to commute or just have fun around town (especially if you are a tall-ish guy) then get yourself the 05.
- If you frequently want to cruise at 300 km/h then get the Gixxer. Prepare yourself for a very agressive riding position though and lots of vibration through the pegs. But this bike is what you want if you want to try and stick with 14's on wide open roads.
- If you want to carve up twisties or rule at track days then keep your 06. The bike corners better than either the 05 or the Gixxer.
Hope this helps.
