Some help please ... CATS Removal ..

Folks..... I have read the threads on this along with the ones on the kawiforum about CAT Removals. However, the threads keep getting hijacked and the original question never seems to be answered.

I have a Bone Stock ZX10R. I would like to GUT the CATS. Has anyone gutted the CATS with a Stock Bike and does it need a PowerCommander and remap ??

Sorry but everyone seems to answer that question with a Why or I have all these other mods + the CAT mod and so on. But that does not help because I dont have a PowerCommander, nor can I remap, nore do I have a BMC, or KN, nor Slipon and so on.

Thank You very much in advance,

Brian

I gutted mine and put the PC in at the same time. Taking out the material inside the cats double barrel is a pain but it removes a significant restriction and will gain you at least 5hp [only if you richen the map]. You take it off, secure it in a vise and go at it with a long reach hole saw and large drift. It will take a while as the element inside is a tough metallic honeycomb and was put there to stay. I wouldnt recommend doing this without running a new map in a PC as the bike is certain to run lean without it.
