Anyone modify stock exhaust

Searched but didn't see anyone who had done this.

Call me a stocker, but my bike has enough performance for me. I just wouldn't mind a little more noise. Has anyone done any light mods internally to a stock exhaust to get more sound?
I don't want D&D loud, just a little more rumble. My friend's Termignoni is too close to stock, IMO. I haven't heard enough others to compare.

Thanks,
John

I think you can repack it with a different less dense fiber to get a better sound.

I removed catalitic converter plus drilled a number of holes with large drill..got too loud for my taste.. would attract police as well..prefer muzzy full system over just too loud myself..

But...there is past posts showing the mod..DKET I believe was the Coronels name who wrote about it.. he claimed about 4 hp increase doing both catalatic converter removal and punching thru internally.. I remember an internall plate that comes out with some ramming with a re-bar or what have ya to do it with.. I used drill and pipe to punch thru...I would still wonder about the efficiency of air flow butchering that way....DKET measured gains besides loudness... you might be better off with a slip on..have fun..

If I am not mistaken, the stock pipe does not have packing like most aftermarket pipes. It has internal baffles that quiet the exhaust down. Therefore, you can't repack it with diferent packing. One thing that a lot of the stunters do is to cut the stock muffler shorter. This gives the muffler less volume (area inside the pipe) and eliminates some of the baffles resulting in a louder pipe that should (but not necessarily) make more power. I have seen it done to CBR's but I haven't seen one done on a 10 yet. If you go this route, let me know how it works out

I did. I got a new baffle and packing kit from A&R Mufflers. It sounds awesome and only cost $110. For the $$ you can't beat it. You have to be a little handy with tools but it isn't a big deal. I picked up about 4hp without much tuning. He sells the kit through ebay
