Cleaning brake calipers ?
Hello ALL, can someone tell me whats best to use to clean the gold calipers on a 04/05 ZX10 R. I'm finding hard to shift the black dust that seems to get on them.
Cheers Bill

Brake parts cleaner................You can't hurt the coating on them hardly at all. I've cleaned mine many times with thinner and they look like new.

I use the simple green MAX. When you use a brake dust cleaner, It won't fade the calipers right away, but it will eventually fade out the clearcoat on top of the powder coat finish after a while. The simple green MAX is strong and its clear coat safe. Just make sure to wash thoroughly with water. My two cents....

Its a pain in the ass yo powerder coat the calipers. You have to break in down and use some industrial plugs before you bake it. Your better off with paint.

I've already Powdered my 12R calipers a couple of years back. Honestly the only reason I haven't done these is I HATE bleeding brakes and BRAKE fluid!!! I tried painting before the powder and it's looks like shit. Cheap lookin and too much shine. Satin Black Powder is perfect. Perhaps I'll pick up some 06 10R calipers that are already Black. I wonder if the ZX14 nissin calipers will fit the 10R fork leg... Eh? better brakes all around that way

Alcohol is very effective, but you want to be certain you keep it off the rotors and pads.
