Any HID conversions on '05's?
I have a 2005 ZX-10R and I'm considering doing the 6000K HID conversion. So far, I've put Sylvania Silverstar H7's in and that's a definite improvement, but I could still use more light. Has anyone put the HID's in their bike?

I did.
I came up short.
Story of my life.
My apologies.
I'll go back to my Yamahole now.

Basically - check E-bay as there are several options there for what seem to be the best prices.
These things run H7 bulbs - if ya buy a kit then you get a set-up for both low and high beam.
Stick around the 3500-5000k range for the best actual light - heat ranges above that are not as bright but look nicer in appearance.
Yer lookin bout $125.00 per bulb/ignitor/ballast set-up and most of the kits are plug and play.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I've seen kits on eBay, but not several. Maybe I need to expand my search.
A friend of mine put a 6000K kit on his CBR and likes it. I wasn't aware that 3500-5000K range had the best actual light. Interesting. I rode his bike, and I find the 6000K a little funky.
So far, I have installed Sylvania Silverstars in my bike and aimed my lowbeam further up. As many have mentioned here, it's adjusted WAY too low from the factory. Doesn't even meet the adjustment spec they set in their own owner's manual (a headlight adjustment spec in an owner's manual is a rarity in my experience, but cool).
It's definitely better than stock now, but I'm thinking that I might try the PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs. 4000K and they say it's 110W worth of light at 55W. Bunk? PIAA seems to be a reputable company.
Can anyone out there tell me how these PIAA bulbs compare to Sylvania Silverstars?
BTW, the reason I posted again is because I really didn't see any definitive posts on an HID conversion, but I may have missed 'em. I saw a 1lowbeam/1highbeam conversion to 2lowbeams/2highbeams, but that was about it.
Thanks a bunch.

I had 8K in mine for almost 2 years and liked it but I did want more light so was going to get another set-up in a lower range.
Check over on ZX10R.net - there are several threads on HID there as well. There are also some HID threads in the 14 section of this site too. I wouldn't waste the money on PIAA's as you spend just as much on an HID setup within a year or 2 (depending on how much you ride).

yes rknrl, the PIAS are bunk, or at least their claims are. that 55W=110W crap is pure marketing drivel. and in my experience they don't last very long (especially the 80W ones which lasted less than a year for me, twice).
the silverstars are a good choice from what i understand. there is supposed to be a overwattage H7 bulb at 65W that bymps the light output up to H9 equivalent. see info at http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/bulb_types/bulb_types.html
GOBS of good info on lighting on that site.
